Is the 2025 Honda HR-V a good car?

The 2025 Honda HR-V stands out as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact SUV that emphasizes comfort, versatility, and everyday usability. It offers a higher ride position and a large cargo area, while still feeling more like a smaller car from the driver’s seat. Honda’s strong reputation for reliability is another major draw, and the HR-V’s spacious interior helps explain why it has been a popular choice for urban drivers and small families.

For 2025, the HR-V benefits from the second-generation model’s more refined styling, larger body, and updated tech. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included across the range, along with a seven-inch touchscreen, while the top-spec EX-L gets a larger nine-inch version. Honda Sensing safety features are also part of the package, and 10 airbags are standard. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and Hill Descent Control is standard.

The tradeoff is that the HR-V is not the quickest or most fuel-efficient option in its class, and it needs to be worked hard at higher speeds, especially when carrying passengers. Even so, its strengths are clear: good ride comfort, a versatile interior, and a well-rounded feature set make the 2025 Honda HR-V appealing to shoppers who value practicality and refinement over outright performance.

Is the 2025 Honda HR-V reliable?

The 2025 Honda HR-V stands out as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact SUV that emphasizes comfort, versatility, and everyday usability. Honda’s strong reputation for reliability is another major draw, and the HR-V’s spacious interior helps explain why it has been a popular choice for urban drivers and small families.

For used buyers, that combination of simple hardware and everyday-focused design can help keep long-term ownership risk manageable if the vehicle has been maintained properly. You should still prioritize service history and condition, since a clean, well-kept example is the best way to reduce surprises later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Honda HR-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still confirm the report yourself and look closely at any listing with prior damage, even if the price seems attractive. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on overall condition, signs of wear, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently. Pay extra attention to the cabin, cargo area, and test-drive behavior so you can judge whether the HR-V still feels as practical and well-kept as it should.

The current average of $26,560 sits slightly below last year's $27,138.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is equipped. If you keep the HR-V clean and well documented, you should be in a better position to protect value when it is time to sell.

Should I buy a 2025 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.13% compared with last year.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $28,820, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $26,560 average.
• It adds a refreshed infotainment setup with wireless smartphone features.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2025 if you want the better value and a broader pool of listings to compare. If you care more about the newer tech update and are willing to pay more, the 2026 is the alternative to consider. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2025 is the smarter starting point because it combines softer pricing with solid inventory and a strong share of accident-free listings.
