Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 a good car?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 earns an 8/10 expert rating, and it’s positioned as a stylish luxury SUV with a refreshed interior and exterior for the model year.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It also brings standard all-wheel drive and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which strengthen its everyday appeal and tech story. The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and uncomfortable seats. For you, that means the GV80 makes the most sense if you want upscale design and features more than maximum efficiency or plush seat comfort.

With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 reliable?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 comes across as a solid long-term luxury crossover choice, with a proven platform and a strong warranty backing it up.

Its powertrain carries over unchanged for 2025, which can be reassuring if you want a familiar setup rather than a first-year redesign of the mechanicals. The expert review also describes it as a strong contender in the luxury crossover segment, and the updated cabin materials and technology help it feel more polished. Genesis backs the GV80 with a 5 year/60,000 mile basic warranty and a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, which is a meaningful ownership perk.

The performance notes point to satisfying acceleration, a quiet cabin, and firm, linear brakes, all of which support confidence in daily use. The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the GV80’s comfort and efficiency compromises may matter more as mileage adds up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Genesis GV80?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or higher-mileage examples. Focus on seat condition, feature content, and whether the equipment you want is actually present, since some desirable items move up the trim ladder. It’s also worth checking that the tech and driver-assistance features work as expected, because this SUV leans heavily on them.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GV80 is available with two engine options and five trims, and the base setup is more about value than maximum equipment. The 2.5-liter engine is available in Standard, AWD, Select, Advance and Prestige, while the larger engine is limited to Advance and Prestige. That means the lower trims can leave you without some desirable features, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best balance of price and content.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. A twin-turbocharged six-cylinder is also offered with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Every trim gets all-wheel drive, and the system can send up to 100 percent of torque to the rear wheels.
• Safety package: Every GV80 gets lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Genesis Highway Drive Assist is standard and includes an attention monitor, while upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system. The blind view monitor is another useful feature, but some of the more advanced parking aids are trim dependent.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 27-inch OLED screen that combines the gauge cluster and infotainment display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot and four USB-C ports. You’ll need to move up a trim for the Genesis digital key.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder engine is rated at 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined. The six-cylinder returns 16/22/19.

Which 2025 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 is offered in 5 trim levels: Standard, AWD, Select, Advance and Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point if you want the GV80’s core luxury feel and standard all-wheel drive without stretching your budget. It gives you the basics of the model’s upscale character, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against higher trims if you care about convenience and tech extras.
• AWD: This is the trim to consider if you want the best value, because it adds the features Genesis deleted from the lower setup, including a heated steering wheel, digital key and spare tire. If you want the smartest balance of price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• Select: This trim sits above the entry models and is a better fit if you want a more complete luxury experience without jumping all the way to the upper end of the lineup. It’s the kind of step-up that makes sense if you want more comfort and convenience without going straight to the most expensive versions.
• Advance: This is where the larger engine becomes available, so it’s the right choice if you want stronger performance along with more equipment. It’s a good fit if you care about the GV80’s more powerful side and want a richer feature set.
• Prestige: This is the top trim and the one to choose if you want the most luxurious version of the GV80. It’s the best match for shoppers who want the fullest expression of the model’s design, materials and available equipment.

Genesis’ Highway Drive Assist is standard, and upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Genesis GV80?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,906 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $49,196, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $49,257 sits slightly below last year's $58,655.

That drop suggests the GV80 has become more attractive on the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you plan to resell after a short ownership period. If you buy well now, you may be able to limit your downside, but the recent price trend still favors shoppers more than sellers.

Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 safe?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Genesis Highway Drive Assist is standard and includes an attention monitor, while the GV80 also gets lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system, and the blind view monitor is another useful safety aid. One caveat is that some of the driver-assistance controls take a few taps to adjust, which can be inconvenient if you want quick access.

Should I buy a 2025 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.02% compared with last year.
• The 2025 adds a redesigned look, richer interior materials and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $44,551, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $49,257 average.
• It remains a stylish, safe and mostly rewarding luxury SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the fresher design, upgraded tech and stronger shopping leverage, the 2025 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up the newer presentation, the 2024 is the value play.
