What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Maverick?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, how the touchscreen and driver-assistance features work, and whether the truck’s trim level matches the features you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL gives you the simplest setup, while XLT and Lariat add more equipment and visual polish. The Maverick Lariat also gets a gloss-black grille, and the Lobo stands out with lowered suspension, unique styling, and a more street-focused character. The Tremor is the off-road model, with dedicated suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and a twin-clutch rear drive unit for its AWD system.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 2.5-liter hybrid with 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque, plus an optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-four with 238 hp and 275 lb-ft. The hybrid is available with FWD or AWD, while the non-hybrid is AWD-only. The hybrid is the efficiency-focused choice, while the Lobo adds a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a track-focused drive mode.
• Safety package: Ford’s driver-assistance setup starts with forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams on the base XL. Lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning move up to the XLT, while adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go functions is reserved for the Lariat and Tremor. A 360-degree camera is newly available for 2025.
• Infotainment: The Maverick uses a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Sync 4, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and an eight-inch digital instrument cluster. Ford still routes some temperature and seat-heater controls through the screen, so you should make sure you’re comfortable with that setup before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The base FWD hybrid is rated at 42 mpg city and 35 mpg highway, while the AWD hybrid is rated at 40 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. The 2.0-liter turbo-four returns 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway in XL, XLT, and Lariat form, while Lobo and Tremor versions are rated lower.

Which 2025 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Maverick is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, and Lobo.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the simplest way into the Maverick, and it still gives you the truck’s core strengths: hybrid efficiency, useful packaging, and a surprisingly appealing interior design. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the extra convenience and driver-assistance features found higher up.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful equipment over the XL without pushing you into the pricier upper end of the lineup. It also unlocks more safety tech, including lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning, making it the smart middle-ground choice.
• Lariat: This is the trim to choose if you want a more polished Maverick with more comfort and convenience features, plus adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go. It’s the right pick if you plan to spend a lot of time in the truck and want the most rounded daily-driver experience.
• Tremor: This is the off-road-focused Maverick, with dedicated suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and AWD hardware that sets it apart from the rest of the lineup. It makes sense if you want the most rugged version and value capability over everyday simplicity.
• Lobo: This is the standout choice if you want the Maverick’s most distinctive street-truck personality. With lowered suspension, unique styling, a dual-clutch transmission, and handling-focused tuning, it’s the trim for buyers who want something more playful and less conventional.

The safety package is not fully standard across the lineup, so if advanced driver assistance matters to you, make sure the trim you choose includes the features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Maverick?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,758 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,506, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Maverick's resale value?

The current average of $31,584 sits slightly below last year's $32,990.

That softer pricing suggests the Maverick has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may temper what you can expect later as a seller. The current market still shows healthy demand, though, so a well-kept truck with the right trim and equipment should remain appealing. If you buy smart and keep the truck in strong condition, you should have a better shot at holding value than you would with a less sought-after used pickup.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Maverick safe?

The 2025 Maverick earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in rollover crash testing and five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s driver-assistance setup is not fully standard, which is the main safety caveat to keep in mind. Forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams come on the base XL, while lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning require the XLT. Adaptive cruise control with lane-centering and stop-and-go functions is reserved for the Lariat and Tremor, and a 360-degree camera is newly available for 2025.

IIHS testing is mixed, with a Good result in the updated side crash test but only Marginal in the updated moderate overlap front test, plus an Acceptable headlight rating.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model adds styling and tech updates, plus the Maverick Lobo performance variant and an all-wheel drive hybrid.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest Maverick with updated tech and the broadest lineup, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may still make sense, but you’ll want to weigh that against the 2025’s added features and stronger market inventory.
