How much does the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 11.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,405 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with a long history of improving refinement. For you, that means a practical family car with a spacious back seat, a comfortable ride, and a broad spread of available equipment, especially if you want to avoid paying the premium of some rivals.

The Malibu’s appeal is strongest if you prioritize space, comfort, and value over class-leading polish. It was described as sleeker and more sophisticated than the Malibu it replaced, but it still wasn’t as refined as the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, and some versions were criticized for lackluster acceleration and a cheaper-feeling interior.

Market availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Malibu has a relatively strong reliability record compared with earlier Malibus. The later-generation cars are described as generally more reliable than earlier ones, which is a meaningful plus if you want a used sedan that should be easier to live with than older examples.

That said, you should still expect normal used-car risk, especially if the car has had inconsistent maintenance or signs of heavy use. For long-term ownership, the safest path is to focus on well-documented examples with clean histories and a thorough pre-purchase inspection.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Malibu?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if it looks clean on the listing page. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the brakes, tires, suspension, electronics, and signs of uneven wear, since condition matters more than mileage alone on a value-focused sedan like this.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,405 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.37% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,798, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $19,798 sits slightly below last year's $22,338.

That price movement suggests the Malibu is currently in a softer resale position than it was a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but if you plan to sell later, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.37% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2025 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan and you’re comfortable prioritizing practicality over class-leading refinement. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing closely, but the 2025 is the better fit when you want the latest version of this formula and a market that still offers decent deal availability.
