Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns an 7.83/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It’s a strong fit if you want a right-sized truck that fits in your garage, is easier to park in town, and still offers impressive off-road capability. The trade-offs are a high price tag for some shoppers and questionable value for money, especially given the poor fuel economy. The lineup also lacks a long-bed option, which limits versatility versus some rivals.

With 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The Colorado is presented as a well-rounded midsize truck with a powerful standard turbocharged engine and a lineup that emphasizes capability and modern tech. Its performance setup is straightforward, with a standard turbocharged four-cylinder and an eight-speed automatic, and the engine/transmission pairing is described as a strong match for the truck.

For ownership, the main long-term risk for used buyers is that the truck’s poor fuel economy and premium pricing can make it more expensive to live with over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering an off-road-oriented trim. Focus on tire wear, underbody condition, and signs of hard use, since some versions are built to spend time away from pavement. It’s also smart to verify that the truck’s tech and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: WT is the work-truck look, while LT adds body-color door handles and mirrors plus nicer wheels. Trail Boss adds a two-inch factory suspension lift, 32-inch tires, skid plates, and black-plastic fender flares, while Z71 adds 32-inch tires and tow recovery hooks. ZR2 brings the most aggressive hardware and appearance, and the ZR2 Bison adds beadlock-capable wheels, stamped steel bumpers, and a bed-mount spare tire carrier that reduces bed space.
• Powertrain: Every Colorado uses a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional on WT and LT, standard on Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard, while rear pedestrian alert, trailering support for blind-zone steering assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: Every Colorado gets an 11.3-inch touchscreen, Google built-in software, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and Alexa Built-In connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The base WT with rear-wheel drive is rated at 19 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined. With 4WD, it drops to 17 mpg city, 21 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined. The ZR2 is rated at 17 mpg across the board, and the Bison package drops to 16 mpg in all driving scenarios.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 5 trim levels: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the value-oriented starting point if you want the Colorado’s standard turbocharged power, basic work-truck styling, and the core tech and safety equipment without paying for extra appearance or off-road hardware.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look with body-color exterior details and nicer wheels while staying below the off-road-focused models.
• Trail Boss: Choose this if you want the factory lift, extra ground clearance, and off-road-ready hardware without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Z71: This trim adds a more upscale look and keeps off-road capability in the mix, making it a good middle ground if you want a nicer-feeling Colorado with trail-friendly gear.
• ZR2: This is the one to buy if off-road performance is your priority, with the most serious hardware and the most aggressive stance in the lineup.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, and Teen Driver technology is standard on all Colorado models.

• Inventory: There are 3,487 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.61% compared with last year.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $38,851 sits slightly below last year's $42,050.

That price movement suggests the Colorado has softened enough to improve your entry point as a buyer. For a future seller, it also means you should expect some depreciation pressure if you buy near the current average and try to resell soon.

Because the year-round range tops out at $42,039, there’s still room for prices to move around depending on trim and condition. If you buy carefully now, you may reduce the risk of overpaying relative to where the market has already settled.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.61% compared with last year.
• It combines strong off-road capability with a powerful standard turbo engine and easy-to-use tech.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $36,388, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $38,851 average.
• It emphasizes modern features and recreation-focused capability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the Colorado simple with one powertrain and five trim levels.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market pricing, inventory, and capability, the 2025 is the primary pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the better value path.
