Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns an 7.83/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is a strong entry in the midsize pickup segment if you want a right-sized truck that fits in a garage and is easier to park in town. It pairs a powerful standard turbocharged engine with easy-to-use technology and impressive off-road capability, which makes it appealing if you want a truck that can handle daily driving and weekend recreation.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: you may face sticker shock, and the lineup is also criticized for poor fuel economy and questionable value for money. That said, the Colorado’s market position is still fairly balanced, with 36.0% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is presented as a well-rounded midsize truck with a strong standard turbocharged engine, easy-to-use technology, and a lineup that emphasizes capability. Its expert evaluation also points to a truck that feels straightforward to live with, especially if you want something manageable in tighter urban spaces.

Its performance notes are especially reassuring: the standard 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder delivers strong output quickly, with minimal lag right off idle, and the eight-speed automatic is described as a good match for the truck. The Colorado also includes standard Chevy Safety Assist and Teen Driver technology, which adds useful everyday protection and control.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that poor fuel economy and higher running costs can make it less satisfying if you rack up a lot of miles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report, verify maintenance records, and prioritize a thorough inspection of the truck’s condition and equipment. Pay close attention to how the truck was used, especially if it has off-road hardware or towing-related wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: WT is the work-truck version with a black plastic grille and fascia, silver-painted steel wheels, and matte black trim, while LT adds body-color door handles and side mirrors plus nicer wheels. Trail Boss adds a two-inch factory suspension lift, 32-inch tires, skid plates, and black-plastic fender flares. Z71 adds 32-inch tires, tow recovery hooks, and more body-color elements, while ZR2 brings unique wheels, a distinctive hood, and visible Multimatic DSSV shocks. The best-value trim depends on whether you want basic utility, a more polished look, or serious off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: Every Colorado uses a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional on WT and LT, standard on Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2, and the truck’s towing and payload numbers are strong for the class.
• Safety package: Standard Chevy Safety Assist includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard, while rear pedestrian alert, trailering support for blind-zone steering assist, and a 360-degree camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: Every Colorado gets an 11.3-inch touchscreen, Google built-in software, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, and Alexa Built-In connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The base WT with rear-wheel drive is rated at 19 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined. Adding 4WD drops it to 17 mpg city, 21 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined. The ZR2 is rated at 17 mpg across the board, and the Bison package drops to 16 mpg in all driving scenarios.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 5 trim levels: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the most affordable path into the Colorado lineup, and it gives you the core truck experience with the standard turbo engine, digital gauge cluster, and 11.3-inch touchscreen. It makes the most sense if you want the Colorado’s capability without paying for extra appearance or off-road equipment.
• LT: This trim adds body-color exterior details and nicer wheels, making it the better pick if you want a more polished look without jumping too far up the price ladder. It’s a sensible middle ground for shoppers who care about everyday comfort and style.
• Trail Boss: This is the best fit if you want a factory-built off-road setup, thanks to the suspension lift, skid plates, and 32-inch tires. It’s the trim to choose if trail use matters more than on-road flash.
• Z71: This trim adds a more upscale appearance and keeps off-road-friendly hardware like 32-inch tires and tow recovery hooks. It’s a strong choice if you want a balanced mix of style, capability, and equipment.
• ZR2: This is the top off-road model, with distinctive hardware and the most aggressive capability in the lineup. Choose it if you want the Colorado at its most serious for rough terrain.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, and Teen Driver technology is standard on all Colorado models.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,371 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.39% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,149, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $39,149 sits slightly below last year's $41,822.

That decline suggests the Colorado is currently in a softer pricing environment, which can help you buy more truck for the money today. If you plan to sell later, the recent drop also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, mileage, condition, and whether the truck has desirable equipment.

For a future seller, the best protection against depreciation is likely to be a clean history, strong condition, and a trim that buyers actively want. Higher-spec off-road versions may hold interest with the right audience, but fuel economy and value concerns can still weigh on the market.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.39% compared with last year.
• It combines strong standard turbo power with easy-to-use tech and serious off-road capability.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $36,781, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $39,149 average.
• It emphasizes modern lifestyle-pickup appeal with refined handling and recreation-friendly capability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the lineup simple with one powertrain and five trim levels.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, inventory, and capability, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the better price-sensitive alternative.
