How much does the 2025 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 14.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,602 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 a good car?

Generally — the 2025 BMW X3 earns 4/5 from users and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The redesigned X3 stands out as a driver-focused compact luxury SUV with unusual design, impressive technology, and a minimalist cabin that favors simple forms over traditional luxury. It also feels rewarding to live with because BMW gives you plenty of ways to tailor it to your preferences, and the combination of comfort, technology, and driving dynamics is a major part of its appeal.

The trade-offs are real: the latest infotainment system caused trouble in testing, the Steering Assistant could be aggravating, and the ride can feel firm and jiggly on imperfect roads. Interior materials also feel cheap, and the technology can be unintuitive.

For you, that means the X3 makes the most sense if you value style, substance, and a more engaging drive than a typical compact luxury SUV. 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X3’s reliability case is helped by its strong overall balance of comfort, technology, and driving dynamics, plus BMW’s complimentary maintenance for the length of a typical lease. Its turbocharged four-cylinder also delivers broad power with a mild-hybrid system that improves off-the-line responsiveness and makes start-stop operation nearly imperceptible.

BMW also includes complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which can reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the X3’s more complex technology and premium hardware may be more expensive to live with if problems show up outside the warranty window.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing includes larger wheels, sport suspension tuning, or multiple option packages. Pay close attention to ride quality, infotainment behavior, and whether the driver-assistance features operate the way you expect in everyday use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X3 is offered in 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive model series, and the base model already delivers a strong mix of style, comfort, and value. The M50 xDrive is the more powerful choice, but the base version is the better fit if you want the strongest value proposition.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, while the M50 xDrive upgrades to a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 393 hp. The base engine is described as a gem, though mid-range passing can feel less effortless than in the six-cylinder.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Steering Assistant, while Driving Assistant Professional adds Active Driving Assistant Pro with hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display runs Operating System 9, and the system supports wireless Apple CarPlay. Navigation with augmented video is available through BMW Live Cockpit Professional, but the native interface can be frustrating in use.
• Fuel efficiency: The base model is rated at 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice if you want the redesigned X3’s style, strong standard equipment, and broad everyday capability without paying for the extra speed of the M50 xDrive. It delivers the core X3 experience and is the smarter pick for most shoppers.
• M50 xDrive: Choose this if you want the most powerful and quickest version of the X3 and are willing to pay for it. It is the performance-focused option in the lineup.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite is included, while adaptive cruise control, Steering Assistant, and more advanced parking and driver-assistance features are tied to higher packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,602 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.59% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,940, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $44,940 sits slightly below last year's $52,616.

That price movement suggests the X3 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand from shoppers who want a newer luxury SUV without paying new-car money. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if your vehicle lacks desirable equipment or has visible wear.

The X3’s strong value story and broad appeal should still support interest over time, particularly because it combines style, performance, and premium-brand cachet. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 safe?

The 2025 BMW X3 earns a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one notch below a top five-star rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and Steering Assistant, while Driving Assistant Professional adds hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant.

One caveat is that the NHTSA result falls short of a top rating, with four-star frontal-impact results for the driver and front passenger contributing to the overall score. BMW’s lane-keeping assist works well, but Steering Assistant can feel intrusive unless you’re using it in the right conditions.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned X3 brings unusual design, impressive technology, and a more distinctive minimalist cabin.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $51,808, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $44,940 average.
• BMW says the base model looks and feels a little more upscale inside.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and broader market selection, the 2025 is the smarter path. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly more upscale-feeling base model, the 2026 is worth a look.

How does the 2025 BMW X3 compare to the 2025 Audi Q5?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2025 BMW X3:

• Pros: Stylish design, Fun to drive, Excellent value for money.
• Cons: Poor ride quality, Interior materials feel cheap, Unintuitive technology.

2025 Audi Q5:

• Pros: Comfortable, Standard all-wheel drive, Easy-to-use technology.
• Cons: Potentially polarizing design, Irritating transmission, High base price.

Our experts score the 2025 BMW X3 7.5/10 and the 2025 Audi Q5 7.2/10. The BMW is the better pick if you care most about style, driving enjoyment, and value. The Audi counters with a more comfortable feel and easier tech, but it asks more at the base price and gives up some of the BMW’s personality.
