How much does the 2025 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 14.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,470 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 a good car?

Generally — the 2025 BMW X3 earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall showing. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The X3 is positioned as a driver-focused compact luxury SUV with alluring proportions, unusual design, and impressive technology. It also comes across as rewarding on the road, with comfort and driving dynamics that make it fun to drive, and it is presented as excellent value for money.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: the latest infotainment system caused trouble in testing, Steering Assistant could be aggravating, and the ride can feel firm and jiggly on imperfect pavement. The X3’s appeal is strongest if you want a personalized SUV with a distinctive personality rather than a traditional luxury feel.

Good and great deals account for 35.0% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 X3 is described as a well-rounded compact luxury SUV with strong comfort, driving dynamics, and a broad powertrain spread. Its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is praised for its broad power band, and the 48-volt mild-hybrid system helps improve off-the-line responsiveness while making start-stop operation nearly imperceptible.

BMW also includes complimentary maintenance for the length of a typical lease, which can help reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the X3’s more complex technology and available driver-assistance features may be more frustrating than its mechanical side.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW X3?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing includes larger wheels, sport suspension tuning, or multiple option packages. Focus on cabin condition, infotainment behavior, and whether the ride quality matches your expectations for daily use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X3 is sold in 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive model series, and the base model already brings a distinctive athletic look, quality materials where you expect them, and a minimalist cabin. The cheaper trim is the one to watch closely if you want the best value, while the higher-output version is for buyers who want more performance.
• Powertrain: The 30 xDrive uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, while the M50 xDrive upgrades to a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 393 hp. The base engine is described as a gem, with strong low-end response and credible acceleration.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. The Premium Package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Steering Assistant, while Driving Assistant Professional adds hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display runs Operating System 9, also known as iDrive 9, with Quick Select and wireless Apple CarPlay. BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds augmented video navigation, and the system supports profile-based settings through the MyBMW app.
• Fuel efficiency: The base model is described as promising impressive fuel economy, and BMW cites 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW X3 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW X3 is offered in 2 trim levels: 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• 30 xDrive: This is the best-value choice if you want the core X3 experience without paying for the extra speed of the M50. It delivers the broad power band, mild-hybrid assistance, and the same distinctive design and technology focus that define the model.
• M50 xDrive: Choose this if you want the stronger performance character and are willing to pay for the turbo-six upgrade. It is the right pick for buyers who care most about outright speed and a more serious performance edge.

The standard safety package includes Active Driving Assistant, while Premium Package and Driving Assistant Professional add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,470 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,674, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $44,674 sits slightly below last year's $52,344.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the X3 more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, it means you may not see the same pricing strength that this model had a year ago.

Even so, the X3’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal should help support demand over time. A well-kept example with desirable equipment and clean history should remain easier to move than a less distinctive luxury SUV.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW X3 safe?

The 2025 BMW X3 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, one notch below a top five-star rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, and front, side, and rear parking sensors. Premium Package models add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Steering Assistant, while Driving Assistant Professional adds Active Driving Assistant Pro with hands-free Traffic Jam Assistant, Lane Change Assistant, and Evasion Assistant with evasive steering assist.

One caveat is that NHTSA’s lower result appears tied to four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact crash test. BMW’s lane-keeping assist is described as working well, but Steering Assistant can be frustrating when used without adaptive cruise control.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned X3 brings unusual design, impressive technology, and a driver-focused character.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $51,649, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $44,674 average.
• The base model gets a slightly more upscale interior.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2025 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model with a mildly upgraded cabin, the 2026 is the secondary path.

How does the 2025 BMW X3 compare to the 2025 Audi Q5?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2025 BMW X3:

• Pros: Stylish design, Fun to drive, Excellent value for money.
• Cons: Poor ride quality, Interior materials feel cheap, Unintuitive technology.

2025 Audi Q5:

• Pros: Comfortable, Standard all-wheel drive, Easy-to-use technology.
• Cons: Potentially polarizing design, Irritating transmission, High base price.

Our experts score the 2025 BMW X3 7.5/10 and the 2025 Audi Q5 7.2/10. The BMW is the more engaging choice if you care about style and driving enjoyment, while the Audi leans more toward comfort and simpler tech.
