How much does the 2025 BMW M4 cost?

Prices have softened 5.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 364 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 a good car?

The 2025 BMW M4 earns an 8.2/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

You get a car that blends serious speed with real-world usability: it is offered as a coupe or convertible, with rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive, and with or without a manual transmission. The trade-offs are that it is expensive, its tech can be hit-and-miss, and the back seat is cramped.

For your use case, that means the M4 makes the most sense if you want a high-performance car that can still handle daily driving, carry four people, and work as a comfortable cruiser when you want it to.

There are 36.5% good and great deals in the market, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 reliable?

The 2025 BMW M4 is presented as a well-rounded performance car that also aims to be usable every day, with a cabin that can seat four people and carry a decent amount of cargo. Its performance setup is robust, with an adaptive suspension, an active differential, and strong brakes designed to support hard driving as well as commuting.

BMW also gives you a standard safety suite and a high-resolution surround-view camera system, which helps reduce the stress of parking and maneuvering a car with limited visibility. The infotainment and driver-assistance tech are modern, but the voice assistant can be inconsistent, especially with the top down.

The M4’s performance hardware and premium features suggest a car built for demanding use, but long-term ownership risk for used buyers still comes down to how hard the car was driven and how well it was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW M4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are looking at a car with performance options or a convertible top. Focus on overall condition, signs of curb rash or front-end scraping, and whether the car’s electronics and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The coupe is offered in base, M4 Competition, and M4 Competition xDrive specifications, while the convertible is available only as the Competition xDrive. The base coupe is the entry point, while the Competition xDrive models add the strongest performance and all-wheel-drive traction.
• Powertrain: The M4 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. Output ranges from 473 horsepower to 523 horsepower depending on transmission choice, and the xDrive setup includes RWD, AWD, and sport AWD modes.
• Safety package: Every M4 includes Active Driving Assistant with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Active Guard collision preparation, driver monitoring, and BMW Assist e-Call are also standard. The Driving Assistance Professional package adds evasive steering assist, lane centering assist, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control support, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: BMW Operating System 8.5 powers the dual-screen setup. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, cloud-based navigation, and an Intelligent Personal Assistant are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says you should expect 18 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW M4 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW M4 is offered in 3 trim levels: M4, M4 Competition, and M4 Competition xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• M4: This is the one to choose if you want the manual-transmission experience and the lowest entry price. It gives you the core M4 formula with the least power, but it is still the best fit if you value involvement and want to save some money.
• M4 Competition: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger performance step up without going all the way to xDrive. It adds more power and pairs it with the automatic transmission, making it the sweet spot for buyers who want speed first.
• M4 Competition xDrive: This is the pick if you want the quickest version and the added traction of all-wheel drive. It is the most capable choice for outright acceleration and all-weather confidence.

Every M4 includes Active Driving Assistant, and the Driving Assistance Professional package adds more advanced driver aids if you want them.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW M4?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 364 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $86,234, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW M4's resale value?

The current average of $87,530 sits slightly below last year's $92,554.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can help you get into the car at a better price today. For a future seller, it means you should expect some depreciation pressure rather than strong short-term appreciation.

Even so, the M4’s performance reputation and broad appeal should help it remain desirable relative to many other used performance cars. If you buy well and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a better shot at holding value than you would with a less special sports coupe.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 safe?

The 2025 BMW M4 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every BMW M4 has Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Active Guard collision preparation and driver monitoring are also standard, along with BMW Assist e-Call.

If you want more capability, the Driving Assistance Professional package adds evasive steering assist, lane centering assist, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control support, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assist. The surround-view camera system is especially useful because visibility is compromised when the top is up.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW M4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.43% compared with last year.
• The 2025 model year brings a light refresh, a slight power bump for Competition xDrive models, and a new infotainment operating system.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of the M4 with the latest updates, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year can still make sense, especially if you find a well-kept example with the equipment you want.
