How much does the 2025 BMW M4 cost?

Prices have softened 2.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 327 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 a good car?

The 2025 BMW M4 earns an 8.17/10 expert rating, and the overview frames it as a high-performance coupe or convertible that still works as an everyday car. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

That balance shows up in the details: you get serious speed, coupe and convertible body styles, manual or automatic transmission choices, and rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive. The trade-offs are just as clear, though, including a high price and hit-and-miss tech, plus a cramped back seat.

For you, that means the M4 makes the most sense if you want a performance car that can still handle regular use without feeling compromised. The market also shows 34.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 reliable?

The overview and expert notes point to a car that is built to do more than just go fast, with everyday usability, four-seat practicality, and a decent amount of cargo space. The performance write-up also emphasizes that the M4 can be tuned for comfort, with Efficient mode and Comfort settings making it docile and compliant in normal driving.

That same performance coverage suggests the car is engineered with substantial hardware behind it, including an active differential, adaptive suspension, and strong brakes, which supports confidence in how it should hold up under spirited use. The cost-effectiveness discussion, though, makes clear that this is an expensive machine to own and that you are paying for the M division experience rather than financial efficiency.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that a high-performance setup like this can be costly to keep in top shape, especially if the previous owner drove it hard or skipped maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW M4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with this much performance hardware and this many available options. Focus on wear items, signs of hard use, and whether the car’s condition matches its asking price and mileage. If you are shopping a convertible, pay extra attention to top operation and any signs of weather exposure.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The coupe is offered in base, M4 Competition, and M4 Competition xDrive specifications, while the convertible is available only as the Competition xDrive. The base coupe is the least expensive entry point, but the Competition and xDrive versions add more power and, in the case of xDrive, all-wheel-drive traction.
• Powertrain: The M4 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. Output ranges from 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque to 523 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, depending on transmission choice and specification. The base coupe gets a six-speed manual, while Competition models use an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Every M4 has Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Active Guard collision preparation, driver monitoring, and BMW Assist e-Call are also standard. The Driving Assistance Professional package adds evasive steering assist, lane centering assist, lane change assist, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The M4 uses Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Operating System 8.5. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, cloud-based navigation, and an Intelligent Personal Assistant are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says to expect 18 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW M4 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW M4 is offered in 3 trim levels: base, M4 Competition, M4 Competition xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the one to choose if you want the manual transmission and the lowest entry price. It gives you the core M4 experience with the least power, but it is still the most engaging option if rowing your own gears matters most to you.
• M4 Competition: This is the best-value pick for most shoppers because it adds more power and the automatic transmission, making it the stronger all-around choice if you want quicker acceleration without stepping all the way up to xDrive.
• M4 Competition xDrive: This is the one to buy if you want the quickest version and the added traction of all-wheel drive. It is also the only convertible specification mentioned, so it is the right choice if you want open-air driving with maximum performance.

Every M4 includes Active Driving Assistant, and the Driving Assistance Professional package adds more advanced driver aids if you want the most complete safety setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW M4?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with patience and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 327 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $86,234, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW M4's resale value?

The current average of $90,749 sits slightly below last year's $92,773.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it suggests the M4 is holding value reasonably well, but not so tightly that you should expect a strong premium just because it is an M car.

If you plan to resell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot. A clean, well-kept example should be easier to move than one with heavy wear, modified parts, or signs of track use.

Is the 2025 BMW M4 safe?

The 2025 BMW M4 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every BMW M4 has Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Active Guard collision preparation, driver monitoring, and BMW Assist e-Call are also standard.

If you want more help, the Driving Assistance Professional package adds evasive steering assist, lane centering assist, lane change assist, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assist. That package is the one to look for if you want the most advanced driver-assistance setup.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW M4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.18% compared with last year.
• The 2025 update brings a light refresh, a slight power bump for Competition xDrive models, and a new infotainment operating system.

The bottom line: If you want the updated version with the latest changes and you value the refreshed tech and slight performance bump, the 2025 is the better target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year can still make sense, but the 2025 gives you a strong mix of availability, softened pricing, and the newest updates.
