Is the 2025 Audi Q5 a good car?

The 2025 Audi Q5 earns a 7.17/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

It is a comfortable, standard-all-wheel-drive compact luxury SUV with easy-to-use technology, and it is aimed at buyers who want a polished everyday luxury SUV. The trade-offs are a potentially polarizing design and an irritating transmission, plus a high base price that may give you pause. Even so, the Q5’s balance of comfort, tech, and premium feel makes it a credible choice if you value refinement over excitement.

With 38.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Audi Q5 reliable?

The 2025 Audi Q5 is presented as a well-rounded redesign with a premium-feeling interior, standard all-wheel drive, and a strong everyday-use focus.

Its powertrain setup is straightforward: a turbocharged four-cylinder for the base model and a turbocharged V6 for the SQ5, both paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive. The performance notes point to capable but not especially sporty behavior, with turbo lag and rough shifts tempering the driving experience. On the upside, Audi includes a four-year/50,000-mile new vehicle warranty and equivalent powertrain coverage, which helps support ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this redesign is new enough that you should be especially careful about early-production quirks and condition history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Audi Q5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with a strong clean-inventory share, you should still run a history report and verify that the specific vehicle you’re considering has a clean service and accident record. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a first-year redesign, since you want to confirm that the drivetrain, electronics, and cabin features are all working as intended. Focus on overall condition, because premium materials and tech-heavy cabins can show wear quickly if the previous owner was careless.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige are the main trims, and the base Premium skips LED Headlights Plus, while Premium Plus and Prestige add programmable OLED taillights. If you want the most upscale lighting and more of the visual upgrades, you’ll want to move up from the base trim.
• Powertrain: The base Q5 uses a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the SQ5 uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Both use a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive, and the standard Q5 is estimated at 25 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control, active front assist with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, swerve and turn aids, lane departure warning, parking sensors, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and exit alert. Premium Plus adds a 360-degree camera system and adaptive cruise assist, so that trim gives you a more advanced safety setup.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a cooled wireless charging pad. Premium Plus adds four USB-C ports and a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, while Prestige adds a 10.9-inch front-passenger screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Audi estimates 25 mpg combined for the Q5 and 22 mpg combined for the SQ5.

Which 2025 Audi Q5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi Q5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the core Q5 experience with standard all-wheel drive, the dual-clutch transmission, wireless smartphone integration, and the new infotainment layout. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable skipping some of the nicer lighting and camera upgrades.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise assist, four USB-C ports, and the upgraded Bang & Olufsen audio system. If you want the most useful mix of convenience and tech without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: This trim is for you if you want the most upscale tech presentation, including the front-passenger screen and the available air suspension. It is the right pick if you care most about the richest feature set and are willing to pay for it.

Premium Plus and Prestige also get programmable OLED taillights, while the base Premium does not.

• Inventory: There are 3,274 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.57% compared with last year.

What is the 2025 Audi Q5's resale value?

The current average of $43,466 sits slightly below last year's $47,024.

That decline suggests the Q5 is currently in a softer pricing environment than it was a year ago. If you’re buying, that can work in your favor because you may have more negotiating room than before. If you’re selling, it means you should expect the market to be a bit less forgiving than it was last year, especially if your vehicle has average mileage or visible wear.

Is the 2025 Audi Q5 safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, active front assist with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, swerve and turn aids, lane departure warning, parking sensors, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and exit alert. Premium Plus adds a 360-degree camera system and adaptive cruise assist, which gives you a more advanced safety package than the base trim.

Should I buy a 2025 Audi Q5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.57% compared with last year.
• It brings Audi’s latest design language and tech suite to the Q5.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It leans even harder into screens and tech.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the redesigned Q5 at a softer price and with strong inventory to shop from. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2025 is the better path right now; if you want to wait for the next iteration’s tech direction, the 2026 is the alternative to watch.
