It stands out as a premium compact crossover with a well-equipped cabin, standard safety tech, and a five-passenger layout, and its appeal comes from its safety focus, clean Scandinavian design, and upscale amenities. The 2024 XC60 leans on Volvo’s long-running strengths: safety, standard safety tech, and a reputation for protection. It also offers a well-equipped cabin and a premium feel that should help it remain appealing to used buyers who value comfort and security. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about basic appeal and more about making sure you buy one that has been cared for properly, since premium features can be costly to sort out if neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC60?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report to confirm the vehicle’s background and verify that the listing matches the seller’s description. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the XC60 has higher mileage or optional equipment like air suspension, advanced driver-assist features, or premium audio. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and how well the technology and comfort features operate, since those are central to the XC60’s value.

The current average of $38,443 sits slightly below last year's $41,700.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, softer current pricing can mean less immediate upside, but it also may support steadier demand if you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition. The XC60’s premium positioning and strong owner satisfaction should help it remain attractive to used shoppers over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $33,288, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $38,443 average.
• It offers plug-in hybrid appeal with useful electric-only driving and long-trip flexibility.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current inventory, cleaner listings, and broad appeal, the 2024 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less up front and you like the plug-in hybrid angle, the 2023 is the more price-sensitive alternative.
