Used 2024 Volkswagen Atlas for Sale nearPortland, OR

How much does the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 9.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,636 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

It’s a three-row midsize crossover SUV built specifically for the U.S. market, so its mission is clear: give you space, practicality, and family-friendly utility. The 2024 refresh adds more standard features and updated styling, which strengthens its case in a crowded segment.

The trade-offs are just as clear. Expert notes call its performance fairly pedestrian, its ride quality poor, and its haptic controls troublesome.

With 34.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas is positioned as a practical family SUV, and the 2024 update adds more standard equipment without changing its core mission. Expert notes also point to a powertrain that pulls strongly and smoothly, even if the vehicle remains focused more on comfort and everyday usability than excitement.

Volkswagen also includes two years or 20,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright complexity and more about making sure the vehicle has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by family-hauling duty.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage family SUV. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and how well the tech and driver-assistance features work in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from SE to SEL Premium R-Line, with Peak Edition available on SE with Technology and SEL. Base models get 18-inch alloy wheels, while most other trims get 20-inch wheels and the SEL Premium R-Line gets 21-inch wheels. SE with Technology models add a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting, so the lower trims are the ones most likely to feel light on convenience features.
• Powertrain: The 2024 Atlas uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional, and the setup is tuned more for smooth family hauling than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: VW’s IQ.Drive package includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist for highway driving. Predictive adaptive cruise control is standard on SEL and higher trim levels, while the SEL Premium R-Line adds park assist and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: A 12-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless phone charging. Six USB-C ports are standard, with up to eight available, and a dash cam port is included on SE with Technology and higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg combined, 20 mpg city, and 27 mpg highway, while all-wheel-drive models are rated at 22 mpg combined, 19 mpg city, and 26 mpg highway.

Which 2024 Volkswagen Atlas trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, and SEL Premium R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but it still brings a lot of value thanks to the standard 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and the full suite of driver-assistance features. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest price and don’t need extra luxury touches.
• SE with Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a dash cam port while keeping the Atlas’s core practicality intact. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• SEL: This trim adds more upscale convenience and tech, including a head-up display and predictive adaptive cruise control. It makes sense if you want a more premium daily driver without jumping all the way to the top model.
• SEL Premium R-Line: This is the most fully equipped version, with 21-inch wheels, sportier styling, park assist, and a surround-view camera system. It’s the right pick if you want the most features and the most polished presentation.

The safety package is strongest on SEL and higher trims, where predictive adaptive cruise control becomes standard and the top trim adds park assist and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volkswagen Atlas?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,636 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,573, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $30,737 sits slightly below last year's $34,021.

That price movement suggests the Atlas has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the current average or below, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher.

The Atlas’s strong practicality and family-friendly appeal should help it stay relevant with used buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas safe?

The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash testing and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

VW’s IQ.Drive package includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist for highway driving, while predictive adaptive cruise control is standard on SEL and higher trims. The SEL Premium R-Line adds park assist and a surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that IIHS ratings for the 2024 model were not yet released at the time of publication, though the structurally similar 2023 model earned a Good score in most crash tests and a Marginal result in the updated moderate overlap front test.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 refresh adds more standard features, updated styling, and a stronger powertrain.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,356, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $30,737 average.
• It adds standard automatic high-beam headlights and wireless charging.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong inventory and a major refresh. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model with a few extra standard features, the 2025 is worth a look.
