How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

With 1,468 listings available, you have a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Prius fits well if you want an everyday car that blends style, practicality, and affordability. It carries up to five people, starts at less than $30,000, and brings strong fuel efficiency along with appealing design.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and the instrumentation is poor.

Good and great deals make up 41.4% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Prius is presented as a practical, efficient hybrid with strong value, and its expert assessment reinforces that it is built around everyday usability and low running costs. Its fuel-saving setup and strong overall package point to a car that should make sense for long-term ownership if you prioritize efficiency and value.

Toyota also emphasizes the Prius’s cost-effectiveness, which supports the case for lower ownership stress over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the powertrain and more about living with the car’s space and visibility compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on interior condition, visibility-related wear, and whether the cabin’s controls and displays suit your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited trims differ in appearance and equipment, with the XLE and Limited standing out for their 19-inch aluminum wheels. The base setup also uses a smaller touchscreen and simpler wheel design, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The Prius uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack, and AWD adds a second rear electric motor. The LE is the most fuel-efficient version, while XLE and Limited trade some efficiency for more equipment.
• Safety package: Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.
• Infotainment: The Prius comes with an 8-inch touchscreen on LE and XLE, while Limited gets a 12.3-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and connected services are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE gets 57 mpg combined, or 54 mpg with AWD. XLE and Limited return 52 mpg combined, or 49 mpg with AWD.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value choice if you want the strongest fuel economy and the lowest entry price. It gives you the Prius’s core efficiency and safety package without paying for extra luxury touches.
• XLE: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of value and comfort. It adds a more upscale feel than the LE while keeping the Prius’s efficiency and everyday usability intact.
• Limited: This is the pick if you want the most features, including the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, and available 360-degree camera and parking assistance. It makes sense if you want the most tech-rich Prius.

Every trim includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,468 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,632, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,641 sits slightly above last year's $29,392.

That small increase suggests the Prius has held its value fairly well in the near term. For a future seller, that kind of stability is a good sign because it points to steady buyer interest rather than a softening market.

Its strong efficiency, safety reputation, and broad appeal should help keep demand healthy if you maintain the car well. The biggest resale advantage is that shoppers still see the Prius as a practical, value-focused hybrid.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Prius earns Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it gets a four-star rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Prius has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, and Proactive Driving Assist.

One caveat is that the lane-centering system does not include hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, so you still need to keep inputting steering.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 41.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong efficiency with a practical interior and appealing style.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,967, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,641 average.
• It introduced the Prius’s sharper styling and stronger performance.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,407, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,641 average.
• It adds a Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look.

The bottom line: If you want the most balanced mix of value, safety, and efficiency, the 2024 is the safest bet. If price matters most, the 2023 is the cheaper route, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer trim update and can find a good deal.
