How much does the 2024 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 1.50% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,463 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

It stands out as a practical daily driver with room for up to five people, appealing styling, and strong fuel economy. You also get all-wheel drive and a plug-in hybrid powertrain available, which broadens how you can configure it.

The trade-offs are a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, and the driving experience still has some rough edges when you push it hard. Even so, it fits well if you want an efficient, affordable hybrid that still feels modern.

43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Prius is described as affordable, practical, and exceptionally fuel efficient, with strong safety ratings and a reputation for cost effectiveness. Its hybrid system is built for efficiency, and the available all-wheel-drive setup adds flexibility without changing the car’s core mission.

Toyota also includes a maintenance perk in the ownership experience through the connected-services setup, which can help reduce some early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about living with the Prius’s cramped rear seat, limited cargo room, and visibility compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on interior condition, visibility-related wear, and whether the car’s tech and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE, XLE, and Limited each bring different equipment levels, and the base trim uses smaller wheels and a smaller touchscreen than the higher trims. The Limited adds the largest screen and more upscale tech, while the XLE and Limited stand out for their 19-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack, and AWD adds a second rear electric motor. The car is tuned for efficiency first, with up to 57 mpg in combined driving on the LE.
• Safety package: Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.
• Infotainment: The Prius uses an 8-inch touchscreen on the LE and XLE, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and OTA-connected services are part of the tech story, along with available cloud-based navigation and other connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The LE gets 57 mpg in combined driving, while the XLE and Limited return 52 mpg in combined driving. AWD versions are rated at 54 mpg for the LE and 49 mpg for the XLE and Limited.

Which 2024 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the best-value choice if you want the strongest fuel economy and the lowest entry price. It keeps the Prius focused on efficiency and still includes the full safety suite, making it the smartest pick for most shoppers.
• XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top trim. It adds a more attractive wheel setup and more available equipment while staying close to the Prius’s efficiency-first mission.
• Limited: This is the trim to buy if you want the most tech and convenience features, including the larger touchscreen and premium audio. It suits you best if you care more about equipment than maximizing value.

Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move when you find the right car.

• Deal availability: 43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,463 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.50% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 87.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,652, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $29,157 sits slightly above last year's $28,728.

That upward move suggests the Prius is holding demand well in the used market. If you buy one and keep it in good condition, you should have a decent chance of preserving value better than a less efficient or less desirable hybrid.

The price trend also tells you that shoppers are still willing to pay for this model year’s mix of efficiency, safety, and style. That matters if you plan to sell later, because a car with steady demand is usually easier to move at a strong price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2024 Prius earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, for which it gets a four-star rating, and the IIHS calls it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign recognition.

Proactive Driving Assist is also part of the package, and it adds subtle steering and braking support when active. One caveat is that the system does not include hands-free Traffic Jam Assist, and the lane-centering assist still expects you to keep input on the wheel.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.50% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong fuel economy, appealing design, and a full safety suite in a practical daily-driver package.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,687, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,157 average.
• It introduced the Prius’s sharper styling and a big power increase.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,320, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $29,157 average.
• It adds a Nightshade trim with a blacked-out look.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current-market availability, safety, and efficiency, the 2024 is the cleanest choice. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2023 is the better value play; if you want a newer-feeling alternative with a fresh appearance package, the 2025 is worth a look.
