Summary

Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser stands out as the return of Toyota’s original SUV to the United States, and it arrives as an all-new model. It shares a platform with the Lexus GX, but Toyota positions it squarely in its own midsize-SUV segment. That combination of heritage and a fresh redesign gives it a distinctive place in the market, especially for buyers drawn to a nameplate with a long reputation.
What makes the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser appealing is the way it blends retro styling with strong off-road capability and modern comfort and convenience. The test-drive data also describes it as comfortable, which broadens its appeal beyond trail-focused shoppers. At the same time, it is not without tradeoffs: there is no option for a third row, and it is more expensive than competitors. Toyota’s reliance on the Land Cruiser name also appears to be part of the value proposition, which may matter to buyers weighing the price against the changes made to the model’s traditional formula.

The Land Cruiser lives up to all of my expectations, the interior was very comfortable, the instrumentation and obvious technology was impressive ; most impressive was the performance. The handling was comparable to Our Lexus RX450hL.

Very smooth ride. Gas mileage not horrible but not the 25mi as listed. I get about 21 on hwy if I “take it easy” on the gas pedal. I love the look. I put 20in wheels with large 285 tires. Looks Great!

How much does the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $60,800 |
| Year-Round Low | $60,803.86 |
| Year-Round High | $64,291.61 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $64,298 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.44% |
Prices have softened 5.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 957 listings available, you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare across trims and condition levels.
If you find a listing below $60,803.86, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
The overview frames it as an all-new return of Toyota’s original SUV to the U.S., with retro styling, strong off-road capability, and modern comfort and convenience. That makes it a fit if you want a midsize SUV with heritage appeal and real trail ability, not just the look of one.
The main trade-offs are that there’s no option for a third row and it costs more than many rivals. The expert notes also point to a price that may feel hard to justify if you’re focused mainly on value rather than capability and brand cachet.
With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview emphasizes Toyota’s long-running Land Cruiser reputation, and the expert notes reinforce that this redesign keeps the model focused on durability-minded capability and comfort. The performance write-up also points to a hybrid powertrain with standard full-time 4WD, a two-speed transfer case, locking differentials, and a stabilizer-bar disconnect on higher trims, all of which suggest a vehicle engineered for demanding use.
Toyota’s hybrid setup and off-road hardware should give you confidence if you plan to use it as intended, but the premium pricing means long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical concept and more about whether you’ll feel you got enough utility for the money.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen trail use. Focus on underbody condition, wheel and tire wear, and signs of hard off-road driving, since this model is built to go places many SUVs never will.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base 1958 trim uses cloth seats and the simpler 8-inch infotainment setup, while the middle trim adds SofTex seating and a 10-speaker sound system. The First Edition stands out with real leather, unique trim-specific logos, a roof rack, a front skid plate, and mudflaps, and the Premium Package on the upper trims adds a moonroof and ventilated front seats.
- Powertrain: You get Toyota’s i-Force MAX hybrid setup with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 1.87-kWh battery pack, and a 48-hp electric motor for 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic and standard full-time 4WD, plus a two-speed transfer case with high and low range.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road-sign assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, while those features are standard on the First Edition.
- Infotainment: The upper trims get a 12.3-inch center touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and four USB-C ports total. The base 1958 uses an 8-inch display and a six-speaker sound system, while the middle trim gets a 10-speaker system and can be upgraded to a 14-speaker JBL setup with the Premium Package.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 23 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in 3 trim levels: 1958, Land Cruiser, First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- 1958: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Land Cruiser formula at the lowest price. You still get the hybrid powertrain, standard 4WD, heated front seats, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, but you give up the richer cabin materials and the more advanced tech found higher up. It makes sense if you want the nameplate and capability without paying for extras.
- Land Cruiser: This is the best-value trim for most buyers. It adds the more upscale interior treatment, the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the Multi-Terrain Monitor, while also unlocking more of the off-road hardware and convenience features that make this SUV feel special.
- First Edition: This is the most fully equipped version, with leather seating, unique trim details, a roof rack, front skid plate, mudflaps, and standard access to the most complete feature set. It suits you if you want the most distinctive and most capable-feeling version and are willing to pay for it.
The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, while those features are standard on the First Edition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping more than impulse buying.
- Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 957 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.44% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 96.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $60,803.86, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser's resale value?
The current average of $60,800 sits slightly below last year's $64,298.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward from where it was a year ago, which can help you buy more carefully now. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained and equipped.
Because this model still carries strong brand appeal and a desirable capability-first identity, well-kept examples should remain easier to market than more ordinary midsize SUVs. If you buy smart and keep it clean, you should have a better shot at holding value than you would with a less distinctive alternative.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
All 2024 Land Cruisers come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road-sign assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The package also brings full-speed cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and the Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim.
One caveat is that this model has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA, so you’re relying on Toyota’s safety equipment and the brand’s track record rather than published crash-test results. That makes careful test-driving and feature comparison especially important if safety tech is a top priority for you.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.44% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The all-new redesign brings retro styling, strong off-road ability, and modern comfort.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $62,155, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $60,800 average.
- It is almost unchanged, with a two-row focus and a powertrain tuned more for power than efficiency.
The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the lower average price and the fresh redesign that brought the Land Cruiser back to the U.S. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2024 is the smarter target; if you’re comparing closely, the 2025 only makes sense if you find a compelling deal on a nearly identical truck.
