CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser
overall

Summary
With 944 currently listed for sale and an average price of $60,861, 35.3% of 2024 Toyota Land Cruisers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
96.9% of 2024 Land Cruiser models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser stands out as an all-new return to the U.S. market, bringing back one of Toyota’s most recognizable nameplates after a brief absence. It is positioned as a midsize SUV and shares a platform with the Lexus GX, but Toyota has aimed to keep it firmly in its own segment. What makes it distinctive is the way it blends retro styling, strong off-road capability, and modern comfort and convenience with the heritage attached to the Land Cruiser name.
That combination gives the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser broad appeal for buyers who want a capable SUV with a more characterful design than many rivals. The test-drive data highlights impressive off-road ability and a comfortable ride, which are two of its clearest strengths. At the same time, it is not without tradeoffs: there is no option for a third row, and it is more expensive than competitors. Toyota’s reputation and the Land Cruiser badge add to the appeal, but the price may still feel ambitious given the changes to the model’s traditional formula.

The Land Cruiser lives up to all of my expectations, the interior was very comfortable, the instrumentation and obvious technology was impressive ; most impressive was the performance. The handling was comparable to Our Lexus RX450hL.

Very smooth ride. Gas mileage not horrible but not the 25mi as listed. I get about 21 on hwy if I “take it easy” on the gas pedal. I love the look. I put 20in wheels with large 285 tires. Looks Great!

|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $60,851 |
| Year-Round Low | $60,812 |
| Year-Round High | $64,098 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $64,091 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.06% |
Prices have softened 5.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 946 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
The overview and test-drive data point to a midsize SUV that blends retro styling, strong off-road capability, and modern comfort and convenience. That makes it a fit if you want a characterful SUV with real trail ability rather than a purely road-focused family hauler.
The main trade-offs are that there is no option for a third row and it costs more than competitors. Even so, the market still shows 35.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview frames this Land Cruiser as a return of a well-known nameplate with Toyota’s usual reputation behind it, while the test-drive data emphasizes a durable-feeling hybrid powertrain and serious off-road hardware. The performance notes also point to a turbocharged hybrid setup with full-time 4WD, a two-speed transfer case, locking differentials, and a disconnecting front sway bar on higher trims.
Toyota also includes a broad standard driver-assistance suite, and the cost-effectiveness notes point to strong accessory support for customization. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is a premium-priced SUV, so repair and upkeep costs may matter more than they would on a cheaper alternative.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and verify that the truck’s off-road hardware and cabin features match the trim you’re considering. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if the vehicle has seen trail use, since underbody wear and suspension condition matter more on a Land Cruiser than on a typical commuter SUV.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base 1958 trim gets cloth seats and an 8-inch center display, while the middle trim upgrades to SofTex seating and a 10-speaker sound system. The First Edition adds real leather, unique trim-specific logos, a roof rack, a front skid plate, and mudflaps, and the Premium Package on the top two trims adds a moonroof and ventilated front seats.
- Powertrain: The Land Cruiser uses Toyota’s i-Force MAX hybrid setup with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 1.87-kWh battery pack, and a 48-hp electric motor for 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It also has an eight-speed automatic transmission, standard full-time 4WD, and an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road-sign assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, while those features are standard on the First Edition.
- Infotainment: The two higher trims get a 12.3-inch center touchscreen and Multi-Terrain Monitor, while the base 1958 uses an 8-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the base system uses a six-speaker setup.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 23 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in 3 trim levels: 1958, Land Cruiser, First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- 1958: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Land Cruiser look, standard heated front seats, full-time 4WD, and the hybrid powertrain without the extra comfort and trail-focused upgrades found higher up. It makes sense if you want the badge and capability at the lowest price, but it is the least equipped version.
- Land Cruiser: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the middle-trim equipment that makes the cabin and tech feel more complete, including SofTex seating, the larger infotainment setup, and available Premium Package content. It also gets the off-road hardware and features that make the truck feel more fully realized.
- First Edition: This is the most feature-rich version, with real leather, unique trim-specific details, standard off-roader gear, and the most complete package of comfort and convenience equipment. It suits you best if you want the most distinctive and fully equipped Land Cruiser from the start.
The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, and those features are standard on the First Edition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 946 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.06% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 97.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $60,812, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser's resale value?
The current average of $60,851 sits slightly below last year's $64,091.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale will depend on how well the market continues to value this model’s mix of heritage and capability. Because the Land Cruiser is positioned as a premium SUV, condition and trim choice should matter a lot when you eventually sell.
If demand stays steady for rugged, well-equipped SUVs, the Land Cruiser’s distinctive identity should help support used values. A clean history and desirable equipment will matter even more if you want to protect your exit price later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser safe?
The 2024 Land Cruiser has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
All 2024 Land Cruisers come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road-sign assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, while those features are standard on the First Edition.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.06% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 is the all-new U.S. return of the Land Cruiser with strong off-road ability and a comfortable ride.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $62,213, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $60,851 average.
- It changes little, but adds a stronger emphasis on capability-first ruggedness.
The bottom line: If you want the better buy today, the 2024 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong deal availability and excellent accident-free inventory. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with only modest changes, the 2025 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2024.
