Used 2024 Subaru Outback for Sale nearLexington, KY

How much does the 2024 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 6.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,579 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

It fits you well if you want a smaller vehicle with SUV-like ride height, strong visibility, a spacious interior, and a comfortable ride. The trade-offs are an underwhelming base engine and a dated infotainment system, so it makes the most sense if you value practicality and comfort over the latest tech or outright performance.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s reliability case is helped by its standard all-wheel drive, strong safety reputation, and a powertrain lineup that prioritizes everyday usability. The base engine is the weaker point, but the turbocharged setup better manages the vehicle’s weight and feels like a stronger fit if you plan to keep the car for the long haul.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which can slightly reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is ending up with a higher-mileage example that has been driven hard without careful maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a turbocharged or higher-trim example. Focus on overall condition, service records, tire wear, and whether the cabin and infotainment system show signs of heavy use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base and Premium trims come with cloth seats, while Onyx Edition and Wilderness use StarTex synthetic leather and Limited adds standard leather seating surfaces. Touring stands out with the most chrome, a larger infotainment screen, and extra comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter flat-four makes 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, while XT trims and the Wilderness use a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The turbo setup also raises towing capacity from 2,700 to 3,500 lbs.
• Safety package: The EyeSight suite is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert becomes standard on the Onyx Edition, and reverse automatic braking starts with the Onyx trim level.
• Infotainment: The base trim keeps the dual-7-inch-screen setup, while higher trims get the 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto start with Premium, and Wi-Fi capability comes on all but the base trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is EPA-rated at 26 mpg city, 32 highway, and 28 combined. The turbo engine is estimated at 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined, while the Wilderness is rated at 21 city, 26 highway, and 23 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Outback is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the least expensive way into the Outback, but it keeps the simpler dual-7-inch-screen setup, cloth seats, USB-A only, and a four-speaker audio system. It makes sense if you want the Outback’s core ride height, visibility, and standard all-wheel drive at the lowest price.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wi-Fi capability, and USB-C connectivity while staying below the more expensive specialty trims. If you want a more modern daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the one to target.
• Onyx Edition: This is the least-expensive path to the turbocharged engine, and it also adds StarTex upholstery and more standard safety equipment. If you want stronger performance and a more distinctive look, this is the smart upgrade.
• Wilderness: This is the choice for you if you want the most off-pavement capability, with 9.2 inches of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and dual-function X-Mode. It’s the most specialized trim here, so it suits buyers who will actually use that extra capability.
• Limited: This trim adds standard leather seating surfaces and a more upscale feel without going all the way to the top. It’s a good fit if you want comfort and refinement but don’t need every luxury feature.
• Touring: This is the most upscale Outback, with the larger screen, the most chrome, a CD player, a wide-angle camera, a digital rearview mirror, and a driver-attention monitor. Buy this if you want the most comfort and tech in the lineup.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert start on the Onyx Edition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,579 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,457, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $28,713 sits slightly below last year's $30,575.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting downward. If the trend continues, resale values could remain under pressure unless demand strengthens or supply tightens.

The Outback’s broad appeal, strong safety reputation, and solid owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2024 Subaru Outback earns a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The EyeSight suite is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Reverse automatic braking now starts with the Onyx trim level, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert become standard on the Onyx Edition, and Touring adds a wide-angle camera, a digital rearview mirror, and a driver-attention monitor.

The main caveat is that the Outback earned Top Safety Pick rather than Top Safety Pick+, which is a step below the prior model year’s result.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the wagon-like shape, strong safety ratings, and a broad trim spread for comfort-focused buyers.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $26,021, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $28,713 average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive, strong safety, and a more accessible price point.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,980, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $28,713 average.
• It keeps the wagon identity while emphasizing ride quality, safety, and standard all-wheel drive.

The 2024 is the best all-around choice if you want the current-year mix of pricing, inventory, and safety. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2025 is the next step up.
