The overview and test-drive data point to an affordable all-wheel-drive economy car that gives you more capability without stretching your budget. You also get a comfortable ride and smart features, which help make it a practical daily driver. The main trade-off is that this is more of a refresh than a full redesign, so the changes are evolutionary rather than dramatic.

Is the 2024 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Impreza’s overall positioning as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact car supports that impression, and the expert review also highlights a comfortable ride and smart features that should make day-to-day ownership straightforward. The performance notes describe the RS as responsive for a CVT, with adequate acceleration and quiet operation under light to moderate throttle, which points to a drivetrain that feels composed in normal use.

The cost-effectiveness notes also emphasize that the Impreza remains a smart purchase for its capabilities, ease of use, and fun driving dynamics. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that you should focus on condition and maintenance history, since a car that’s been used hard can erase the value advantage quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Impreza?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has been driven in harsh conditions. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear, and whether the car has been maintained consistently, since those factors matter more than the badge on the trunk.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base model uses two 7-inch displays, while the Sport and RS trims get the larger 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. The RS also adds side skirts and red interior accents, so if you want the most upscale and sporty presentation, that’s the trim to target.
• Powertrain: The Base and Sport trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, while the RS upgrades to a 2.5-liter engine with 182 hp and 178 lb-ft. Both use a CVT, AWD is standard, and there is no manual transmission.
• Safety package: Every Impreza gets the EyeSight driver assist suite with frontal collision warning and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and lane-centering. The Sport adds Starlink communications features, and the RS adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering.
• Infotainment: All Imprezas include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Sport and RS add wireless connectivity. The Sport and RS also get Starlink features and a Wi-Fi hotspot, while the larger 11.6-inch screen is standard on those trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter engine is estimated at 27 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The RS is rated only 1 mpg less across the board.

Which 2024 Subaru Impreza trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Impreza is offered in 3 trim levels: Base, Sport, RS.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and standard AWD. You give up the larger touchscreen and some convenience upgrades, but you still get the core Impreza formula and the standard EyeSight safety suite.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 11.6-inch infotainment screen, sportier handling, and a few more convenience and tech features without jumping all the way to RS pricing.
• RS: This is the one to buy if you want the most power and the most complete feature set. It adds the 2.5-liter engine, the sportiest character in the lineup, and extra safety equipment, making it the right pick if you want the most engaging Impreza.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but the RS adds the most advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,466 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,063, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $22,834 sits slightly below last year's $23,367.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim choice than on broad market momentum alone.

The RS and other well-equipped versions should be easier to position later if they’re kept in strong condition, since buyers tend to respond well to the Impreza’s standard AWD and practical feature set. If you maintain the car well and avoid heavy wear, you’ll be in a better position to preserve value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Impreza safe?

The 2024 Subaru Impreza earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

All 2024 Imprezas come with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist suite, which includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and lane-centering. The Sport adds Starlink communications features, and the RS adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering.

Crash-test results from NHTSA and IIHS are not yet available, so you should weigh the standard safety equipment and the RS’s added driver-assistance features when comparing trims. The expert review also notes that these systems performed as they should during testing, with no false alarms or intrusive actions.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The revived RS trim adds a welcome dose of driver excitement while the car keeps its standard AWD and comfortable ride.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, traction, and everyday usability, the 2024 is the right path to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can shop carefully for a lower-priced listing, but the 2024’s combination of standard AWD, improved features, and softened pricing makes it the better all-around choice.
