How much does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 5.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,134 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — 4.83/5 from owners points to strong overall satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its build quality, comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, safety features, and value for money. The Crosstrek’s standard all-wheel drive and practical, outdoorsy character also fit buyers who want a small crossover with more versatility than its size suggests.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine can feel underpowered, and the interior materials are described as cheap. Even so, the Crosstrek’s mix of everyday usefulness and added capability makes it a strong fit if you want a compact crossover that can handle commuting, bad weather, and light adventure.

Good and great deals account for 34.6% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels well built, comfortable, and dependable enough to earn repeat approval from drivers. It also highlights the Crosstrek’s safety features and value, which usually matter to shoppers planning to keep a vehicle for the long haul.

The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the Crosstrek as a practical, easy-to-live-with crossover with improved engine refinement and a CVT that is more pleasant than many rivals’ versions. Subaru’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps lower early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base engine may feel strained if you expect brisk acceleration or frequent highway passing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen winter use, gravel roads, or frequent outdoor-duty driving. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake wear, and signs of hard use, since the Crosstrek’s appeal often comes from the kind of ownership that can be tougher on a vehicle than simple commuting.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim gets 17-inch alloy wheels, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and optional roof rails, while Premium, Sport, and Limited trims add standard roof rails. The Wilderness trim stands apart with unique exterior and interior details, more aggressive bodywork, StarTex synthetic leather, all-weather floormats, and a ladder-style roof rack.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.5-liter engine makes 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Both use a CVT, and the Wilderness trim gets a shorter final-drive ratio for stronger low-speed and uphill performance.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight system is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. New for 2024, it uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the Base trim. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad is available across the lineup and standard on the Sport and Limited trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 27 mpg city, 34 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.0-liter model, 26 city, 33 highway, and 29 combined for the 2.5-liter model, and 25 city, 29 highway, and 27 combined for the Wilderness.

Which 2024 Subaru Crosstrek trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Wilderness.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point if you want the lowest price and still want Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and EyeSight safety tech. It makes the most sense if you value the Crosstrek’s core capability more than extra comfort or tech.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment while staying close to the entry price. It also gets the more rudimentary X-Mode setup with dirt/snow driving features, and it is a smart pick if you want a well-rounded daily driver without stretching too far up the range.
• Sport: This trim is the better choice if you want the stronger 2.5-liter engine, paddle shifters, and the more capable X-Mode setup with mud and deep snow modes. It also gets the 11.6-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone integration, making it a strong all-around upgrade.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the more upscale equipment mix, including the 2.5-liter engine, paddle shifters, the 11.6-inch touchscreen, and standard wireless charging. It is the trim to target if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the price down.
• Wilderness: This is the one to buy if you want the most off-road-oriented Crosstrek. It adds 9.3 inches of ground clearance, a ladder-style roof rack, a shorter final drive, and stronger towing capacity, making it the clear pick for buyers who plan to use the Crosstrek for rougher terrain or heavier outdoor gear.

EyeSight is standard across the lineup, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

The market looks moderate and selective buyers should have options, but the best listings may move quickly.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,134 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,955, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $26,304 sits slightly below last year's $27,946.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean a future seller has less room to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean or well equipped. The year-round low and high show that values still move within a fairly tight band, so condition and trim choice matter.

If you buy smart and keep the vehicle in strong shape, the Crosstrek’s broad appeal should help support demand later. Its mix of standard AWD, practical packaging, and strong owner satisfaction gives it a resale profile that should remain relatively stable.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek safe?

The Subaru Crosstrek has been awarded a Top Safety Pick designation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) since 2013, and the 2023 model earned five-star ratings overall from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight safety system is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, it also uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.

The main caveat is that the 2024 model had not yet been crash-tested at the time of the review, so the safety reputation is based on the model’s long track record rather than fresh test results for this exact year.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds multiple engine options, upgraded safety features, and a new Wilderness trim level that increases off-road capability.

The bottom line: The 2024 Crosstrek is the right move if you want the latest version of Subaru’s small crossover formula, especially with the added Wilderness trim and updated tech. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2024’s mix of value, safety, and capability makes it the stronger all-around choice for most buyers.
