Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearNew Braunfels, TX

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 9.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,019 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Ascent fits buyers who want a three-row SUV with standard all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and a clear family-hauling role in Subaru’s lineup. It also carries over with almost no changes for 2024, so you’re shopping a familiar package rather than a major redesign.

The main trade-offs are its unimpressive fuel economy and its outdated interior design. The lane-centering technology can also be irritating, which matters if you expect a relaxed commute or frequent highway driving.

Good and great deals account for 38.4% of listings, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Ascent leans on Subaru’s standard all-wheel-drive setup, substantial ground clearance, and safety-focused engineering, which all support its reputation as a durable family SUV. Its turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder and CVT are described as a convincing pairing in everyday driving, and the SUV is presented as an agreeable companion for city use, weekend trips, and rougher roads.

If you’re buying used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that fuel costs may stay higher than you’d like, especially if your driving is mostly urban or stop-and-go.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that has seen family-duty use. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, and signs of heavy wear in the interior, since this is a three-row SUV that may have spent a lot of time hauling people and gear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup runs from Base to Touring, and the biggest feature gaps show up early. Base trim misses the blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert that comes with Premium, while Touring adds the most upscale equipment, including a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a camera-based rearview mirror, and a surround-view camera.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. It’s tuned for everyday usefulness and towing, but fuel economy is not a strength.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not standard on Base.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Higher trims can add connected services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent is rated at 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined with 20-inch wheels, and real-world testing returned 16.7 mpg in the city and 18.6 mpg overall.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point, but it’s best for shoppers who want the lowest price and are comfortable giving up some convenience and safety extras. It still gives you the core Ascent formula, including standard all-wheel drive and the turbocharged powertrain.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim because it adds the blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, which is a meaningful safety upgrade over Base without pushing you into luxury-trim pricing.
• Onyx Edition: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a step up in equipment without going all the way to the upper trims.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale cabin and a stronger mix of comfort and convenience features.
• Onyx Edition Limited: This is for buyers who want the richer equipment of the Limited with the blacked-out styling theme.
• Touring: This is the top choice if you want the most fully equipped Ascent, including the panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, navigation, the premium audio system, the camera-based rearview mirror, and the surround-view camera.

The safety package starts with EyeSight on every trim, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert require stepping up from Base to Premium.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

The market looks moderate for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,019 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,986, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $31,986 sits slightly below last year's $35,484.

That price movement suggests the Ascent has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating. It also earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert requires moving up from Base to Premium, and higher trims can add automatic reverse braking and a Driver Focus monitoring system.

The main caveat is the lane-centering assist behavior, which can feel intrusive and inconsistent in real driving. That doesn’t erase the Ascent’s strong crash-test performance, but it does mean you should test the driver-assistance systems carefully before buying.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model carries over with almost no changes, so you’re getting the same core package of standard all-wheel drive, strong safety credentials, and family-focused utility.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the right pick if you want a proven Ascent at a softer used-car price and don’t need the latest redesign-level updates. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year with similar equipment may also make sense, but the 2024 stands out as a straightforward, well-equipped choice with strong safety and broad inventory.
