Used 2024 Nissan Altima for Sale nearDurham, NC

How much does the 2024 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 7.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,809 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Altima’s appeal starts with an attractive starting price and an impressive array of standard safety tech, and it also offers available all-wheel drive plus an upgraded touchscreen on higher trims. That makes it a practical fit if you want a traditional midsize sedan that is easy to live with and straightforward to shop.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is pedestrian, material quality is unimpressive, and the Bose stereo is lacking. Even so, the car’s value-focused setup and comfortable everyday character make it a sensible choice if you prioritize usefulness over excitement.

36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Altima is described as a stable, familiar sedan that has remained largely unchanged for years, which can be reassuring if you want a proven formula rather than a redesign. Its easy-to-use cabin tech and comfortable driving character also support the sense that it is built for everyday dependability.

Its naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as adequate, and the CVT manages power well, which points to a straightforward powertrain rather than a complicated one. Nissan also includes a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year limited powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-worn example may show its age in materials and refinement before it shows major mechanical drama.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on cabin condition, switchgear wear, and how well the technology and driver-assistance features work in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Altima is sold in essentially four trim levels: S, SV, SR, and SL. The base S is the most stripped-down version, while the higher trims add more equipment and polish.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, while the SR VC-Turbo uses a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 248 hp and 273 lb-ft. AWD is available on the SV, SR, and SL, but not with the VC-Turbo.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking including pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. The SL and SR VC-Turbo also add a 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: Most models use an 8-inch touchscreen, while the base S gets a 7-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the largest screen, and NissanConnect comes standard on the SL and SR VC-Turbo.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard engine with AWD is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 highway, 30 combined. The VC-Turbo with FWD returns 25 mpg city, 34 highway, 29 combined.

Which 2024 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2024 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR, and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it makes the Altima’s value story easiest to access. You give up some of the nicer tech and convenience features, but it keeps the model’s core appeal intact if you want the lowest-cost way in.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more equipment and can be paired with AWD. It’s the sweet spot if you want a more flexible daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SR: Choose this if you want the more powerful VC-Turbo engine and a more feature-rich setup. It’s the right pick if you care more about added punch and available tech than about keeping costs as low as possible.
• SL: This is the most upscale mainstream choice, with the larger 12.3-inch display, NissanConnect, and added driver-assistance equipment. It suits you best if you want the most polished Altima experience short of the turbo model.

The SL and SR VC-Turbo also include the 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition, which adds another layer of convenience and safety.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,809 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,778, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $19,894 sits slightly below last year's $21,519.

That decline suggests the Altima is in a softer pricing environment, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you plan to sell soon. If you own one, the current market indicates that depreciation has already moved the car down from last year’s level, so holding onto a clean, well-kept example matters more than ever.

The good news is that the Altima’s value-oriented reputation and broad appeal can help keep demand steady among shoppers who want a practical sedan. A lower entry price can also make it easier to attract buyers later if your car is in strong condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2024 Altima earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, though it also scores four-star ratings in the overall frontal crash test and driver-side barrier crash test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking including pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. The SL and SR VC-Turbo trims add a 360-degree surround-view monitor and traffic-sign recognition, and ProPilot Assist is standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo while available on SV.

The main caveat is that the 2024 model did not receive the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recognition that the 2022 Altima earned, due to poor performance in the organization’s updated side-impact test.

Should I buy a 2024 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers value-focused pricing, standard safety tech, and available AWD.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,579, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $19,894 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, easy-to-use tech, and strong fuel economy.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $20,927, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $19,894 average.
• It adds the SV Special Edition Package to help refresh the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, safety tech, and familiar sedan practicality, the 2024 is the smart default. If you’re shopping strictly on price, look for a clean, well-equipped example near the low end of the range and compare it against nearby years only if their equipment or condition clearly justifies the extra cost.
