Why it stands out
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it keeps the model’s iconic military-inspired shape while pairing it with modern luxury and technology. Mercedes-Benz gave the G-Class its first significant update since the complete redesign in 2019, and the company says the 2025 update brought mechanical and technological improvements without changing the styling that defines the SUV. That combination is a big part of the G-Class appeal: it looks like nothing else on the road, yet it is built to be a serious off-road machine.
For 2024, the G-Class remained a high-end, highly capable SUV with the familiar twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 in the G 550 and the handcrafted twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 in the AMG G 63. The model also uses Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch displays, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Buyers also get the G-Class’s strong four-wheel-drive capability and the kind of luxury features that help explain why it has become as much a status symbol as an off-roader.
The tradeoff is that the G-Class is expensive to buy and expensive to keep. Fuel economy is poor, and the vehicle’s appeal is tied as much to image and exclusivity as to practicality. Still, for shoppers who want a luxury SUV with unmistakable styling, serious off-road ability, and a cabin loaded with modern tech, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class remains one of the most distinctive choices available.

top of the line suv with power, sophistication and smart features. the dynamic of creating a vehicle that is strong, sturdy and can be utilized for a casual drive as well as offroading is attractive to me. the vehicle is a higher level suv and the only downfall i see is the price but these vehicles will run many miles if properly serviced .

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?
Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it keeps the model’s iconic military-inspired shape while pairing it with modern luxury and technology. Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is presented as a high-end SUV with modern technology, strong four-wheel-drive capability, and a luxury-focused cabin. Its appeal comes from combining distinctive styling with serious off-road ability and premium features. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the concept and more about the cost of keeping an expensive, highly specialized SUV in top condition.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the listing matches the car’s condition and equipment. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has seen hard use or has been modified. Focus on signs of wear, maintenance consistency, and any issues that could be costly on a luxury off-road vehicle.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 841 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.71% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 94.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $178,143, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?
The current average of $178,143 sits slightly below last year's $185,014.
That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, the current softness may limit short-term upside, but the model’s exclusivity and strong desirability can still support demand. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in excellent condition, you improve your chances of holding value better than the average luxury SUV.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.71% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $191,784, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $178,143 average.
- It adds updated powertrains and tech.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the stronger starting point because it offers the same core appeal at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay more for the newer refresh and updated hardware, the 2025 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize the latest changes over price.
