How much does the 2024 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.24% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,484 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento a good car?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns an 8.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits you well if you want a value-minded midsize SUV with a standard third row, a more upscale look, and family-friendly packaging. The refresh also brings easier-to-use tech and more standard safety equipment, which strengthens its appeal for shoppers who want a practical SUV without moving up to a larger, pricier three-row.

The main trade-offs are the cramped third row and the underwhelming base engine, and the top trims can get expensive. Even so, the Sorento’s combination of space, style, and updated features makes it a strong fit if you want versatility without overspending.

38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento reliable?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is positioned as a value-focused SUV with a solidly assembled cabin and a broad set of standard safety and convenience features. Its updated tech and safety systems are part of what makes it feel more modern and easier to live with than before.

The gas-powered version’s base engine is described as overmatched by the Sorento’s weight, while the turbocharged setup feels much more lively and better suited to the vehicle. That split matters because the stronger powertrain should be the one you prioritize if you want the Sorento to feel relaxed in daily driving.

The updated infotainment software is designed to be simpler and more future-proof, and the system can receive over-the-air updates. Kia also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which helps the cabin feel current over time.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is choosing a trim or engine combination that feels underpowered or too expensive for the equipment you actually need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and inspect any candidate carefully, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim or more heavily optioned example. Pay close attention to the condition of the third row, the infotainment system, and any signs that the vehicle was used hard, since the Sorento’s appeal depends heavily on how well its family-friendly features have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-Prestige remain, with the X-Line package on EX and higher models and the new X-Pro as a separate trim. Base models miss some of the nicer cabin touches and the more upscale presentation, while the X-Line and X-Pro add more aggressive styling and a more outdoorsy look.
• Powertrain: The LX and S use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while EX and higher models use a turbocharged 2.5-liter with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The turbo setup is the better choice if you want stronger everyday performance.
• Safety package: Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and Highway Driving Assist 2 are available on higher trims, with the most advanced system on the SX-Prestige.
• Infotainment: All models use a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system can receive over-the-air updates. SX and SX-Prestige models add a second 12.3-inch digital display.
• Fuel efficiency: Non-turbo powertrains earn 25 or 26 mpg combined, while turbocharged models get 23 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, EX X-Line, SX X-Line, SX-Prestige X-Line, and SX-Prestige X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Sorento, but it is also the most basic and comes with the underwhelming base engine. It makes sense only if your priority is the lowest possible entry price.
• S: This trim adds a step up in equipment and can be paired with AWD, but it still uses the base engine. It is best if you want a modestly equipped Sorento and can live without the turbo power.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it unlocks the stronger turbocharged engine and a more satisfying driving experience. It is the trim to target if you want the Sorento’s core strengths without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SX: This trim builds on the EX with more upscale equipment and can be paired with the X-Line setup. It suits you if you want a richer feature set and are willing to pay more for it.
• SX-Prestige: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the nicest interior and the most advanced available tech. It makes sense if you want the Sorento at its most polished.
• EX X-Line: This is one of the sweet spots because it combines the turbo engine, AWD, and the X-Line’s extra ground clearance and tougher look. It is a strong pick if you want the best blend of value and capability.
• SX X-Line: This trim adds the X-Line treatment to a better-equipped Sorento and keeps the added ground clearance and AWD. Choose it if you want a more upscale version of the rugged look.
• SX-Prestige X-Line: This is the most luxurious X-Line version and brings the nicest interior with the added capability of the X-Line setup. It is for buyers who want comfort and style first.
• SX-Prestige X-Pro: This is the most capability-focused gas Sorento, with all-terrain tires, improved cooling, and a higher tow rating. It is the right pick if you want the most rugged version.

The safety package is especially strong, but the most advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,484 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,709, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $29,149 sits slightly below last year's $31,766.

That price movement suggests the Sorento has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, though, it means you should expect a softer resale environment than last year’s market.

The good news is that the current pricing still sits within a fairly tight year-round range, which can help support value if you buy well. If you choose a desirable trim and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2024 Kia Sorento has earned “Good” ratings in IIHS small overlap, original moderate overlap front, and original side tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drivewise suite is a major strength here, with standard adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Higher trims add navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and Highway Driving Assist 2 with automated lane changes on the SX-Prestige.

One caveat is that IIHS has only rated the LATCH system as “Acceptable,” citing lower anchors that are too deep in the seat. That is worth keeping in mind if you regularly install child seats.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.24% compared with last year.
• The 2024 brings a refreshed look, easier-to-use tech, and more standard safety features.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,793, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $29,149 average.
• It carries over without significant changes after the 2024 refresh.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2024 if you want the better value and the benefit of the refresh without paying more for essentially the same SUV. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2024 is the smarter buy; if you’re shopping later and find a 2025 at a similar price, the newer model year can still make sense.
