How much does the 2024 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.14% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,440 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento a good car?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns an 8.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits you well if you want a value-minded midsize SUV with a standard third row, a more upscale look, and family-friendly packaging. The 2024 update also brings fresher styling, easier-to-use tech, and more standard safety equipment, which strengthens its appeal as a practical family hauler.

The trade-offs are clear: the third row is cramped, and the base engine is underwhelming. Top trims can also get expensive, so the Sorento makes the most sense when you focus on the trims that balance equipment and price.

Only 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento reliable?

The 2024 Sorento’s appeal starts with its updated packaging and broad feature set, and it also benefits from a strong safety and convenience foundation. The gas-powered version gets a major refresh for 2024, including updated infotainment and safety systems, which should help it feel more current in daily use.

Its standard safety suite is extensive, and the revised software and sensor setup are meant to make the driver-assistance systems more capable and easier to live with. The powertrain lineup is straightforward for gas models, with a base engine and a stronger turbo option, so you can choose between lower running costs and better performance.

The performance side is mixed: the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as overmatched by the Sorento’s weight, while the turbocharged engine feels much more lively. On the cost side, the non-turbo versions are more efficient, and the turbo models trade some fuel economy for stronger passing power.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing too much vehicle for too little engine, especially if you plan to carry passengers often or want relaxed highway performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, how the third row and cabin wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro variants. Base models are the most stripped-down, while higher trims add a more upscale cockpit, larger displays, and more premium materials. The X-Line and X-Pro bring the more rugged look, with the X-Pro adding smaller wheels, all-terrain tires, and extra capability.
• Powertrain: LX and S use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while EX and higher trims use a turbocharged 2.5-liter with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is the weaker choice, while the turbo is the better fit if you want stronger acceleration and easier passing.
• Safety package: Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and Highway Driving Assist 2 are available higher up the range, with the most advanced setup on SX-Prestige.
• Infotainment: All trims use a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports over-the-air updates. SX and SX-Prestige models add a second 12.3-inch digital display, while navigation is standard on all but the base LX.
• Fuel efficiency: Non-turbo gas models return 25 or 26 mpg combined, while turbocharged versions return 23 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it’s also the most basic version and comes with the weaker engine. It makes sense only if you want the lowest price and can live without the stronger turbo power and richer feature content.
• S: This is the first trim where the Sorento starts to make more sense for many shoppers, especially if you want a lower-priced gas model with the option of AWD. It still uses the base engine, so it’s best if price matters more than performance.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it unlocks the turbocharged engine and a more satisfying driving experience without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims. It’s the sweet spot if you want the Sorento to feel properly powered.
• SX: This trim adds more premium equipment and pairs well with the X-Line setup if you want extra ground clearance and a more rugged look. It’s a good choice if you want a nicer cabin and more capability without going all the way to the top.
• SX-Prestige: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the nicest interior treatment and the most advanced tech and safety content. It suits you best if you want the Sorento to feel as upscale as possible.
• X-Line: This is the better pick if you want the more aggressive styling and the added ground clearance that comes with AWD. It’s the right fit if you value appearance and light-duty capability together.
• X-Pro: This is the most capability-focused version, with all-terrain tires, improved cooling, and the highest towing rating in the lineup. Choose it if you want the Sorento’s most rugged setup and don’t mind paying for it.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, but the most advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting huge discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,440 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,706, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $28,983 sits slightly below last year's $31,551.

That price movement suggests the Sorento has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help you if you buy now and plan to keep it for a while. If you sell later, the strongest resale case will likely come from a well-kept example with desirable equipment and a trim that buyers actually want.

The softer pricing also means future sellers may face more competition from similarly equipped listings, especially if the market stays well stocked. A clean history and the right trim will matter more when it’s time to resell.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2024 Kia Sorento has earned “Good” ratings in IIHS small overlap, original moderate overlap front, and original side tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Higher trims add navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, and Highway Driving Assist 2 on SX-Prestige.

One caveat is that IIHS has not yet fully evaluated the 2024 Sorento, and its LATCH system earns only an “Acceptable” rating because the lower anchors sit too deep in the seat. That’s worth keeping in mind if you regularly install child seats.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.14% compared with last year.
• It adds a fresher look, easier tech, and more standard safety gear.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,601, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $28,983 average.
• It carries over with little change.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the smarter buy if you want the refreshed design and updated tech without paying more for essentially the same SUV. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2024 gives you the better value path; if you want the newest model year and don’t mind paying extra, the 2025 is the simpler choice.
