How much does the 2024 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 8.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,507 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento a good car?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns an 8.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits you well if you want a value-minded midsize SUV with a standard third row, a smaller footprint than many three-row rivals, and a fresher look for 2024. The updated tech and safety systems make it easier to live with, and the family-friendly packaging is a major strength.

The trade-offs are clear: the third row is cramped, the base engine is underwhelming, and the top trims can get pricey.

Good and great deals percentage: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento reliable?

The 2024 Kia Sorento’s appeal is rooted in its updated packaging and standard safety equipment, but the gas model still has some familiar ownership compromises. The base engine is described as overmatched by the Sorento’s weight, while the turbocharged version is much more satisfying for everyday driving.

The performance notes also point to a mixed long-term picture for used buyers: the non-turbo versions are slower and less satisfying, while the turbo models deliver stronger passing power and better overall drivability. On the cost side, the lineup’s value sweet spot sits above the base trims, which means the cheapest versions may ask you to accept more compromise than you want.

If you want the most reassuring ownership experience, focus on a well-kept example with the powertrain and trim level that best matches your needs, because the cheapest version may leave you wanting more.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Pay close attention to how the cabin, infotainment, and safety systems operate, since this model year brought major updates in those areas.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro. The base models don’t get all the fixings, while the X-Line and X-Pro bring more aggressive styling and a more upscale feel; the X-Pro adds smaller wheels, all-terrain tires, and extra capability.
• Powertrain: The LX and S use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while EX and higher trims use a turbocharged 2.5-liter with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is described as underwhelming, while the turbo feels much livelier.
• Safety package: Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 is on the SX-Prestige.
• Infotainment: All models use a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system can receive over-the-air updates. SX and SX-Prestige models add a second 12.3-inch digital display.
• Fuel efficiency: Non-turbo powertrains earn 25 or 26 mpg combined, while turbocharged versions get 23 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it comes with the least powerful engine and the fewest features, so it makes sense mainly if your budget is tight and you want the Sorento’s basic space and standard safety.
• S: This trim is the first step up if you want a little more flexibility, and it can be equipped with all-wheel drive. It still uses the base engine, so it’s best if you value price over performance.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the stronger turbocharged engine and a more satisfying driving experience without jumping all the way to the top end.
• SX: This trim adds more upscale equipment and the stronger powertrain, making it a good fit if you want a richer feel and more features without going fully luxury.
• SX-Prestige: This is the choice if you want the nicest interior and the most equipment, but it’s also where the price starts to climb quickly.
• X-Line: This is the better pick if you want the added ground clearance, more aggressive styling, and all-wheel-drive capability that comes with the package.
• X-Pro: This is the most capable version, with all-terrain tires, improved cooling, and the highest towing rating in the lineup, so it suits you best if you want the Sorento’s extra capability.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, but the most advanced Highway Driving Assist 2 setup is reserved for the SX-Prestige.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

The market looks selective but workable for buyers who are ready to move on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,507 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,710, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $29,111 sits slightly below last year's $31,663.

That decline suggests the Sorento is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you’re shopping now but may work against you if you plan to sell soon. A softer market usually means future resale values may not rebound quickly unless demand strengthens.

If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your eventual trade-in value. The best hedge is choosing a trim that balances desirability and cost, rather than overpaying for features you won’t fully use.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns “Good” ratings in IIHS small overlap, original moderate overlap front, and original side tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s Drivewise suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and safe exit warnings. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 on the SX-Prestige adds automated lane changes.

One caveat is that IIHS gives the LATCH system only an “Acceptable” rating because the lower anchors sit too deep in the seat.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• The 2024 brings a visual update, major infotainment improvements, and stronger standard safety features.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,734, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $29,111 average.
• It carries over with no major changes and adds a new gray paint color.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and the refreshed feature set, the 2024 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for a nearly unchanged follow-up model, the 2025 is fine, but price-sensitive shoppers should focus on the 2024.
