What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the features you want are actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, two USB ports, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to the S adds fog lights, LED daytime running lights, silver roof rails, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, a larger digital instrument panel, LED cabin lighting, combination cloth-and-synthetic leather upholstery, single-zone automatic climate control, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. The EX adds synthetic leather upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a wireless charging pad. The X-Line adds 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, tinted windows, a unique dark gunmetal grille, and black roof rails, but it loses the wireless charging pad and power-adjustable driver’s seat. The SX adds LED bi-function headlights, LED fog lights, an electrochromatic rearview mirror, a rear cargo cover, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and a Bose premium stereo system.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque and uses an IVT. The LX comes standard with AWD, while the S and EX can be had with FWD or extra-cost AWD. The X-Line and SX use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD. The base engine is the efficiency play, while the turbo setup is the stronger performer.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, and driver attention warning. The S adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning. The SX adds smart cruise control with stop-and-go capability, navigation-based curve prediction, traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, junction-turning support for forward collision warning, and drive-away warning. The biggest trim-level gap is that more advanced assistance is reserved for the SX.
• Infotainment: The base trim uses an 8-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch digital instrument screen, while every trim except the LX upgrades to a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. Both systems include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the layout is described as logical and responsive. The SX also upgrades to an eight-speaker Bose premium stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-liter engine with FWD returns 28 mpg city, 34 highway, and 31 combined. With AWD, it returns 27 mpg city, 31 highway, and 29 combined. The 1.6-liter turbo-four returns 25 mpg city, 27 highway, and 26 combined.

Which 2024 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, X-Line, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value entry point if you want standard AWD, the core safety suite, and the basics done well. It gives you the lowest starting price and the most straightforward way into the Seltos lineup.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a larger digital display setup, more comfort and convenience features, and important safety upgrades like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• EX: Choose this if you want a more comfort-focused daily driver, since it adds synthetic leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and wireless charging.
• X-Line: This is the style-and-turbo choice if you want the stronger engine and standard AWD, along with the more distinctive exterior treatment.
• SX: This is the most fully equipped version, with the turbo powertrain, the most advanced driver-assistance features, and premium touches like the Bose audio system. If you want the most content in one trim, this is it.

The S trim is the best-value pick for most used buyers, while the SX makes sense if you want the most advanced safety and convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting for a dramatic bargain shift.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,528 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.94% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,404, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $23,045 sits slightly below last year's $23,743.

That softer pricing trend suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that means resale value may be steadier if you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, but you should not expect rapid appreciation.

The Seltos also benefits from broad appeal: it offers useful space, standard AWD on the base trim, and a strong mix of tech and safety features. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2024 Kia Seltos earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, and driver attention warning. The S trim adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning, while the SX adds smart cruise control with stop-and-go capability, navigation-based curve prediction, traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, junction-turning support for forward collision warning, and drive-away warning.

The safety story is strongest if you move beyond the base trim, since more advanced assistance features are reserved for higher versions. That said, the standard equipment list is already a meaningful strength for the class.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings fresh styling and updated technology as part of its first mid-cycle refresh.

The bottom line: The 2024 Seltos is the better choice if you want the refreshed look and updated tech while still shopping a model year with softened pricing and strong owner satisfaction. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2024’s combination of value, equipment, and market availability makes it the safer all-around pick.
