Is the 2024 Kia EV9 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Kia EV9 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

The EV9 stands out as Kia’s all-new flagship and one of very few fully electric three-row SUVs, so you get family-size space without giving up electric power. It is also described as well-appointed, comfortably sized, and distinctive, with a refreshingly familiar driving experience that should make it easier to live with than many EVs.

The main trade-offs are that it is expensive and its electric range is described as medium. Even so, the EV9’s combination of standout design, useful interior space, and intuitive driving manners makes it especially appealing if you want a three-row EV that feels modern without feeling unfamiliar.

40.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are real opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Kia EV9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The EV9 is presented as a new model with a familiar driving experience, which can be reassuring if you want something innovative without feeling experimental. Kia also emphasizes long-term ownership flexibility through later customization, and the powertrain warranty is highlighted as a major ownership advantage.

On the cost side, Kia notes that the EV9’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty is a meaningful part of the value proposition. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is simply that you are buying into a new EV platform, so you should pay close attention to battery condition, charging behavior, and overall maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia EV9?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a newer EV where battery and charging behavior matter as much as cosmetic condition. Focus on signs of consistent charging habits, software updates, and any evidence of body damage or repair quality if the vehicle has been in an incident.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EV9’s top two trims add a Digital Pattern Lighting Grille, and the interior gets more customization as you move up the lineup, including leg support and bolster adjustments for the driver’s seat. The base setup is already well equipped, but the higher trims add more premium touches and lighting features.
• Powertrain: The Light trim uses a single motor and rear-wheel drive with 215 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Wind, Land, and GT-Line use dual motors and all-wheel drive, with the GT-Line tuned for the strongest torque output.
• Safety package: The EV9’s standard advanced driver-assistance suite includes navigation-based adaptive cruise control with machine learning and stop-and-go capability, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. Blind-spot view monitoring is limited to Land and GT-Line, while reverse parking collision avoidance assist is reserved for the top two trims and front and side versions are GT-Line only.
• Infotainment: You get a three-screen curved display with a 12.3-inch driver information display, a 5-inch climate display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a wireless charging pad and OTA update capability.
• Range & charging: The base Light trim has an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles and a 76.1-kWh battery. The Light Long Range uses a 99.8-kWh battery and reaches 304 miles. Kia says the EV9 should go from 10 to 80 percent in 25 minutes on a high-speed DC fast charger.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the vehicle has typically been charged, and review how much of the battery warranty remains. Home charging is generally easier on the battery than frequent DC fast charging, so usage history matters.

Which 2024 Kia EV9 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia EV9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Light, Light Long Range, Wind, Land.

Here's the short version:

• Light: This is the entry point, and it gives you the EV9’s core appeal at the lowest price. You get the single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup, standard wireless smartphone integration, and the full suite of basic EV9 design and space advantages, making it the best fit if you want the most affordable way into the lineup.
• Light Long Range: This is the best-value trim if range matters most. It swaps in the larger battery and stretches range to 304 miles, which makes it the smartest pick for shoppers who want the EV9’s family-size packaging with the least charging anxiety.
• Wind: This trim adds the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and stronger output, so it is the right choice if you want more traction and a more powerful feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• Land: This trim adds more premium equipment, including the Blind-spot View Monitor and the 14-speaker Meridian Premium Audio system, so it suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver with extra convenience and audio upgrades.

The safety package is comprehensive across the lineup, but some features are reserved for the Land and GT-Line trims, so you should compare those gaps carefully if driver-assistance tech matters to you.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.71% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Kia EV9's resale value?

The current average of $41,749 sits slightly below last year's $44,277.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can work against sellers in the short term. If you plan to sell later, you should expect pricing pressure to remain tied to broader EV demand, mileage, condition, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

At the same time, the EV9’s strong feature set and distinctive position as a three-row electric SUV should help it stay relevant with shoppers who want something rare and practical. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia EV9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 40.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s an all-new flagship EV with a refreshingly familiar driving experience and later-term customization potential.

The bottom line: If you want the EV9’s newest design, strong tech, and rare three-row EV packaging, the 2024 is the primary path to consider. If you are especially price-sensitive, you should focus on the listings that sit near the low end of the range and compare trim-level equipment carefully, since the market already shows meaningful deal availability.
