Why it stands out
The 2024 Kia EV9 stands out as Kia’s all-new flagship and as one of very few fully electric three-row SUVs available. That combination alone makes it unusual in the market, but the EV9 also brings a fresh sense of ambition to the brand by pairing its electric layout with a family-friendly cabin and a design that is meant to look distinctive rather than anonymous. Its spacious third row and stylish design help it feel like a serious alternative for buyers who want something practical without giving up visual presence.
Beyond its basic packaging, the EV9 is notable for the way it blends innovation with familiarity. Kia says it introduces a new business model that lets owners continue to customize the vehicle long after they leave the dealership, and the driving experience is described as refreshingly familiar despite the EV9’s newness. The result is a vehicle that aims to make electric ownership feel approachable while still offering exciting technology and a well-appointed interior. The main tradeoffs are that it is expensive and has medium electric range, but for shoppers drawn to a roomy, upscale electric SUV, those compromises may be easier to accept.

The EV9 Wind is beautiful and packed with quality. Battery life is excellent and the cabin is spacious. 3rd row is a little tight if you have second row bench seating. The only con I have is the sound system. I would like better factory speakers.

How much does the 2024 Kia EV9 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $43,794 |
| Year-Round Low | $38,717.16 |
| Year-Round High | $48,288.42 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $48,291 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.31% |
Prices have softened 9.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 589 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $38,717.16, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Kia EV9 a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Kia EV9 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.
The EV9 stands out as Kia’s all-new flagship and one of very few fully electric three-row SUVs available, so you’re shopping in a very narrow field. Its spacious third row and family-friendly cabin make it especially appealing if you want practical seating without giving up a distinctive design or a more upscale feel.
The main trade-offs are that it is expensive and has medium electric range. Even so, the EV9’s compelling packaging, intuitive driving feel, and strong technology make it a smart fit if you want a roomy electric SUV that feels more special than anonymous.
32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Kia EV9 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The EV9 is presented as a fresh, ambitious model that still delivers a refreshingly familiar driving experience, which is a good sign if you want something new without feeling like you’re taking a leap into the unknown. Its electric layout, well-appointed cabin, and thoughtful tech also suggest a vehicle designed to be easy to live with.
The performance side sounds reassuring too: power delivery is described as smooth and refined, regenerative braking can be tuned to feel natural, and the vehicle’s handling is described as good. Kia also says owners can continue customizing the vehicle after purchase, which may help keep the ownership experience feeling current over time.
Kia also notes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which can reduce long-term ownership anxiety for used buyers. Even so, you should still verify battery condition and charging history before you buy, since EV battery health matters more than mileage alone.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia EV9?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a used EV where battery condition and charging behavior matter. Focus on overall condition, charging-port wear, tire wear, and whether the vehicle has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base EV9 gets the core design and cabin space, but the higher trims add more convenience and luxury touches. The Land and GT-Line trims also bring extra lighting and visibility features that are not on the lower trims.
- Powertrain: The Light trim uses a single rear motor with rear-wheel drive, while the higher trims use dual motors and all-wheel drive. Output and range vary by trim, with the Light Long Range model prioritizing distance and the GT-Line emphasizing stronger torque.
- Safety package: The EV9’s standard driver-assistance suite is comprehensive, including navigation-based adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. Blind-spot View Monitor is limited to Land and GT-Line, while reverse parking collision avoidance assist is reserved for the top two trims.
- Infotainment: You get a three-screen curved display with a 12.3-inch driver display, a 5-inch climate display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a wireless charging pad and OTA update capability.
- Range & charging: The base Light is rated at 230 miles of range with a 76.1-kWh battery, while the Light Long Range uses a 99.8-kWh battery and reaches 304 miles. Kia says DC fast charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 25 minutes.
- Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information if available, and look for signs of consistent charging habits rather than abuse. A used EV is best when it has a clean charging history, sensible daily charging patterns, and enough warranty coverage left to give you confidence.
Which 2024 Kia EV9 trim should I buy?
The 2024 Kia EV9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Light, Light Long Range, Wind, Land.
Here's the short version:
- Light: This is the entry point, and it gives you the EV9’s core three-row packaging, standard tech, and rear-wheel-drive single-motor setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the shortest range in the lineup.
- Light Long Range: This is the best-value trim if range matters most, because it stretches the EV9’s driving distance to 304 miles while keeping the same basic rear-wheel-drive formula. If you want the most usable balance of price and range, this is the one to focus on.
- Wind: This trim adds the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and stronger output, so it’s the step up if you want more traction and a more powerful feel without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- Land: This is the more upscale choice, adding more premium equipment and convenience features, including the Blind-spot View Monitor and the 14-speaker Meridian Premium Audio system. It suits you if you want a richer daily experience and are willing to pay for it.
The EV9’s safety package is comprehensive across the lineup, but some visibility and parking aids are reserved for the higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia EV9?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 589 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 94.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $38,717.16, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Kia EV9's resale value?
The current average of $43,794 sits slightly below last year's $48,291.
That price movement suggests the EV9 has already moved off its earlier peak, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and thinking ahead to eventual resale. A softer market today can also mean less downside risk if you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition.
For a future seller, the EV9’s rarity as a fully electric three-row SUV should help it stay relevant with shoppers who need space and want EV capability. Strong technology, a distinctive design, and broad appeal as a family vehicle can all support demand when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Kia EV9 safe?
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Kia says the EV9’s standard ADAS suite is comprehensive, with navigation-based adaptive cruise control with machine learning and stop-and-go capability, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance. Blind-spot View Monitor is limited to Land and GT-Line, and reverse parking collision avoidance assist is reserved for the top two trims, with front and side versions limited to GT-Line.
The main caveat is that this model year had not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data, so you should lean more heavily on the standard safety equipment and trim-level differences when comparing used examples.
Should I buy a 2024 Kia EV9 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It introduces Kia’s all-new flagship electric three-row SUV with a refreshingly familiar driving experience and standout technology.
The bottom line: If you want the EV9’s fresh design, strong tech, and rare three-row EV packaging, the 2024 is the clear starting point. If you’re more price-sensitive, the softened market and decent deal availability make it worth shopping carefully for the right listing rather than rushing into the first one you see.
