Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda Pilot stands out as a roomy, family-focused midsize SUV with a strong emphasis on everyday usability. It offers a generous amount of cargo space, easy-to-use technology, and standard advanced safety features, which makes it appealing to buyers who want a practical three-row vehicle without a steep learning curve. Owners also praise its spacious cabin and the value it delivers for the money, especially for shoppers who want a lot of features in a vehicle that can comfortably carry eight passengers.
What makes this generation of Pilot distinctive is how much equipment Honda built into it. The 2024 model comes with a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel-drive versions return 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The cabin includes Honda’s “magic” second-row seats, a seven-inch infotainment screen on base trims, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a long list of driver-assistance features such as forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, and a blind-spot information system. Higher trims add conveniences like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Bose sound system.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Pilot’s fuel economy is only average, and some shoppers may find the interior materials less upscale than they would like. A few owners also felt the engine performance and handling were underwhelming, and some were disappointed by missing items such as tow hitch wiring harness components at this price point. Even so, the 2024 Honda Pilot remains distinctive for combining space, safety tech, and broad family appeal in a straightforward package.

It has everything I was looking for in an SUV and I saved a ton of money due to Honda not selling over MSRP. I looked at the Lexus SUV that is similar and the Pilot hands down is better and 20k cheaper.

This vehicle was a great choice for me as it provides the room and flexibility, I am looking for with downsizing from a full-size crew cab pickup.

Reviewed a 2024 Honda TrailSport AWD on Feb 25, 2024
Would have given it 5 stars but when I find after the fact that I spend 50k+ for a car that has a tow hitch but Honda can’t put in a wiring harness for it and I have to spend more money on that is disappointing, I test drove other vehicles that came with the harness and where cheaper. Gets me wondering what else did they go cheaper on. I enjoy it so far the car is great so far but that is just a thorn in my side.
