Is the 2024 Genesis GV80 a good car?

The 2024 Genesis GV80 earns a 7.67/10 expert rating, and the overall package is strongest if you want a traditional luxury crossover with a contemporary edge. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The GV80’s appeal comes through in its stylish design, powerful engine, and impressive technology, and it feels polished and upscale rather than flashy. The trade-offs are seat comfort, which is not what it should be, and the need for a USB cable to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

For shoppers who want a midsize luxury SUV that emphasizes style, power, and tech over maximum comfort or efficiency, it fits the brief well. Good and great deals account for 36.6% of listings, so there’s meaningful market activity to shop.

Is the 2024 Genesis GV80 reliable?

The 2024 Genesis GV80 comes across as a well-equipped luxury SUV with a strong warranty, complimentary maintenance, and connected services that help reduce early ownership friction. Its powertrains are described as capable and the vehicle is positioned as a competitive alternative to established luxury rivals.

The performance notes also point to a composed, quiet driving experience with a good sense of the road surface, which supports the impression of a solidly engineered SUV. Genesis also includes valet pick-up and drop-off for dealership service, which adds convenience during ownership.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the GV80’s thirst for fuel can make running costs higher than you might expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Genesis GV80?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with premium options. Focus on seat condition, infotainment operation, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim level you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GV80’s upscale appeal is strongest in the higher trims, where the cabin gains more premium materials, a 3D digital instrument cluster, and a wide touchscreen display. The base setup is still well equipped, but the more expensive trims add the richer luxury feel that helps the SUV stand out.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque or a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The V6 is quicker and more satisfying, but it is also thirstier.
• Safety package: Standard and available driver-assistance features include Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist and lane-change assist. The blind-spot camera view and parking assist are especially useful, while Highway Driving Assist works best in lighter traffic.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 14.5-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Genesis Connected Services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Wireless smartphone charging is standard, and higher trims add a 12.3-inch digital display and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The twin-turbo V6 returned 17.2 mpg on the evaluation loop, and the EPA says it should return 20 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Genesis GV80 is offered in 4 trim levels: Standard, Advanced, Prestige, Prestige Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point if you want the GV80’s core luxury, technology, and safety features without stretching the budget. It gives you the essential upscale experience, but you give up some of the richer cabin presentation and convenience upgrades found higher up.
• Advanced: This is the trim to consider if you want a better balance of equipment and value. It adds more of the features that make the GV80 feel genuinely premium, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Prestige: This is the sweet spot if you want the more luxurious interior presentation and the added tech that makes daily driving easier. It also brings the kind of upscale feel that suits the GV80’s traditional luxury mission.
• Prestige Signature: This is the most lavish version, with exclusive exterior colors, dark chrome trim, and a 22-inch wheel design. It suits you if you want the most distinctive appearance and the fullest expression of the GV80’s luxury theme.

The Prestige and Prestige Signature trims also add a head-up display, and the Prestige Signature includes second-row wireless smartphone charging.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Genesis GV80?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,676 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,026, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $45,245 sits slightly below last year's $49,609.

That decline suggests the GV80 has become more attractive to used buyers than it was a year ago. If you’re planning to sell later, you should expect pricing pressure to remain tied to mileage, condition, and trim level.

The good news is that the GV80 still has strong appeal thanks to its styling, technology, and luxury positioning. The challenge is that its current market value has already softened, so a future seller may need to lean on a clean history and desirable equipment to stand out.

Is the 2024 Genesis GV80 safe?

The 2024 Genesis GV80 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA. However, in the frontal-impact test, the driver and passenger seating positions each earned four-star ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The GV80’s safety tech includes Blind-Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist and lane-change assist. It also includes standard active blind-spot warning technology, and the blind-spot camera feed appears in the digital instrument panel when you signal a lane change.

Highway Driving Assist works especially well in light or slow-moving traffic, though it can be less desirable in heavier traffic where other drivers cut into the gap ahead. That’s the main caveat to keep in mind if you expect to use the system often.

Should I buy a 2024 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.80% compared with last year.
• The 2024 keeps the GV80’s elegant, traditional luxury feel while still delivering strong tech and safety.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $39,037, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,245 average.
• It offers strong value with standard all-wheel drive and a broad feature set.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $49,856, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $45,245 average.
• It adds a redesigned cabin and exterior with wireless smartphone integration.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and current-year features, the 2024 is the primary path to consider. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if you want the newest tech and design updates, look to the 2025.
