Is the 2024 Genesis G70 a good car?

The 2024 Genesis G70 earns an 8.67/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The overview and test-drive notes point to a compact sport-luxury sedan with striking looks, excellent handling, strong build quality, and a new, more powerful base engine. That makes the least-expensive version compelling if you want a car that feels polished and athletic without paying top-tier luxury money.

The trade-offs are real, though: the cabin is snug, the trunk is small, and you do not get wireless smartphone mirroring. Those compromises matter most if you need more everyday practicality than the G70 is built to deliver.

With 36.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.

Is the 2024 Genesis G70 reliable?

The 2024 Genesis G70 leans into strong build quality, a well-developed chassis, and a powertrain lineup that is described as plenty capable for daily driving and highway merging.

The expert notes also emphasize that the car can take abuse, especially in higher-performance configurations, which supports the sense that it is engineered with real durability in mind. Genesis backs that up with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, and free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about living with the G70’s tighter packaging and premium-car upkeep expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Genesis G70?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean title does not replace a close inspection of bodywork, tires, brakes, and interior wear. Prioritize a test drive that lets you evaluate ride quality, steering feel, and any signs of drivetrain hesitation or cabin noise. Focus on condition, since the G70’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you the core G70 formula, including strong standard safety tech and the updated exterior and interior design, while higher trims add more luxury and performance hardware. The least-expensive version is still compelling, but the top-end trims bring more enthusiast-focused equipment and richer features.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque or a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. Both pair with an eight-speed automatic and are offered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and Highway Driving Assist. Available upgrades include blind view monitor, a 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, and park-distance warning.
• Infotainment: Every G70 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but they do not work wirelessly. Over-the-air updates are standard, and Genesis Connected Services is included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter engine returns 24 mpg combined in rear-wheel drive and 23 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The 3.3-liter engine returns 21 mpg combined in rear-wheel drive and 20 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.

Which 2024 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Genesis G70 is offered in 4 trim levels: Advanced, Sport Prestige, Sport Advanced, Sport Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the best-value starting point if you want the new 2.5-liter engine, strong standard safety tech, and the core G70 experience without stretching for the pricier performance trims.
• Sport Advanced: This trim is the bridge to the V6 lineup, so it makes sense if you want more power and a richer feature set without jumping straight to the top.
• Sport Prestige: This is the one to choose if you want the most complete version of the G70, especially if you care about the stronger V6 performance and the added premium equipment.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with most advanced driver aids standard.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold up better than higher-mileage cars with fewer features.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and Highway Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane following assist. Available safety upgrades include blind view monitor, a 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, and park-distance warning.

One caveat worth noting is the Marginal child-restraint result tied to the lower LATCH anchors being difficult to access.

Should I buy a 2024 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.54% compared with last year.
• The new, more powerful base engine and strong handling make this year especially appealing.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,091, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $31,492 average.
• It offers stylish design and engaging road manners.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2024 if you want the stronger base engine, updated appeal, and a broader value story. If your priority is spending a bit less up front, the 2023 remains a smart alternative because it keeps much of the G70’s style and driving character at a lower average price.
