Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD reliable?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD is described as a truck that combines serious capability with a more polished personality, and its broad configuration range gives you flexibility to match the truck to your needs. What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify how the truck was used, especially if it spent time towing or hauling at the upper end of its capability. Put inspection priority on the condition of the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, tires, and trailering-related equipment, since those systems are most likely to reflect hard use. Focus on overall wear and maintenance records so you can separate a lightly used truck from one that has been worked hard.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $66,345 sits slightly below last year's $72,451.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the truck is equipped and maintained. Heavy-duty trucks with broad appeal tend to hold attention when they combine capability with desirable features, and this model year’s updated tech and strong utility should help support demand. If you keep mileage, condition, and service history in good shape, you improve your odds of a stronger exit later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of updated tech, heavy-duty capability, and current-market value, the 2024 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you should expect to trade away some of the 2024’s refreshed equipment and market freshness.
