Used 2024 GMC Canyon for Sale near Grants, NM

How much does the 2024 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 8.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,763 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare trims and equipment.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon a good car?

It’s a strong choice if you want a midsize pickup that feels more serious, more upscale, and more capable than many rivals, though it comes with some compromises. It earns a 3/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

The Canyon’s appeal starts with its tall, wide stance, strong standard equipment, and capability-focused personality. It also brings excellent materials quality and an unusually strong standard-equipment list for the class, which helps it feel more premium than many midsize trucks.

The trade-offs are real: it’s pricey, the back seat is cramped, and the bed is shorter than competitors’.

For shoppers who want a compact footprint without giving up rugged character, that mix can still make sense. The market also shows 37.5% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon reliable?

The Canyon’s overall setup suggests solid everyday durability, especially if you value a robust powertrain and a truck that’s built to handle towing, hauling, and off-road use. Its turbocharged four-cylinder is described as more than enough for the job, and the truck’s road manners are helped by well-controlled suspension tuning and strong braking.

The performance notes also point to a powertrain that is robust enough to serve in larger GM trucks, which is a good sign for long-term hard use. On the cost side, though, fuel economy is described as a weak point, so ownership costs can add up faster than you might expect.

If you’re buying used, the biggest long-term risk is that a truck with this much capability may have been worked harder than average, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim or off-road-focused truck. Pay close attention to signs of hard use, since this model’s capability can invite towing, hauling, and trail duty. Also check that the cabin, bed, and underbody match the seller’s story about how the truck was used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation comes closest to a work-truck setup, while AT4 leans off-road, Denali leans luxury, and AT4X doubles down on dirt-focused intent. Even the base trim includes dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, so you’re not starting from a stripped-down truck.
• Powertrain: Every trim gets the most powerful version of the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The truck is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the setup is described as strong enough for towing, hauling, and off-road driving.
• Safety package: The Canyon comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist on an Elevation require the Canyon Safety Plus package.
• Infotainment: The standard 11.3-inch touchscreen includes Google Built-in, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. The system also offers off-road performance display pages, and the Denali and AT4X add a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The best-rated setup returns 19 mpg city, 23 highway, and 20 combined, while an AT4X AEV tester was rated at 16 mpg across the board.

Which 2024 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Canyon’s core strengths without jumping deep into the price ladder. It already includes a strong standard tech and comfort list, plus the most affordable entry point into the lineup.
• AT4: Choose this if you want a more off-road-capable setup without going all the way to the top. It adds a more dirt-focused personality and is a logical step up for buyers who plan to leave pavement more often.
• Denali: Pick this if you want the most upscale feel in the lineup. It leans into luxury and is the trim for buyers who care most about comfort and premium presentation.
• AT4X: This is the one for buyers who want the most serious off-road hardware. It doubles down on capability and is the right choice if trail performance matters more than price.

The Canyon Safety Plus package adds rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist on an Elevation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,763 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,495, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $39,495 sits slightly below last year's $42,933.

That price movement suggests the Canyon has softened enough to help used buyers today, but it also means sellers may need to be realistic on asking price. If you own one, especially a higher-trim example, your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. Well-kept trucks with desirable features should still hold appeal, but the broader market is signaling more negotiating room than a year ago.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2024 GMC Canyon earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and three-star ratings in rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Canyon comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are available on lower trims through an added package, so you may need to pay extra to get the full suite.

That means the truck starts with a solid safety baseline, but you should verify exactly which driver-assistance features are included on the specific used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.01% compared with last year.
• The 2024 adds a new AEV package that expands the AT4X’s off-road hardware.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $38,241, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $39,495 average.
• It introduced the redesigned Canyon with a more upscale feel and strong tech.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the added AEV off-road package and you’re shopping the current market, the 2024 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up the latest-year update, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
