How much does the 2024 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 4.81% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,676 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

The 2024 Escape is positioned as a familiar compact crossover with a current design rather than a fresh redesign, and its biggest strengths are variety, everyday comfort, and technology. The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, cargo space is uncompetitive, and it is considered poor value for money.

One of the market signals is that 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Escape is described as a familiar, carryover model after a substantial 2023 makeover, which can be reassuring if you want a known quantity rather than a first-year redesign. Its available powertrains and comfort-oriented setup also point to a vehicle built for everyday use rather than novelty.

The performance notes suggest the turbocharged setup is quick, but the broader ownership picture still depends on how well the vehicle has been maintained and whether its electronics and driveline have aged cleanly.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is paying too much for a trim that doesn’t deliver enough value for the money.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Escape?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the Escape’s value story depends heavily on whether the features and trim level justify the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid. The Base trim appears to be canceled, and lower trims use an 8-inch display, while upper trims get a 12.3-inch display.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, a 192-horsepower hybrid expected to get 39 mpg in combined driving, or a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower, 280 pound-feet of torque, and 26 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system appear on the tested ST-Line Elite.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot access. The larger 13.2-inch touchscreen adds Amazon Alexa and a complimentary three-year subscription to connected navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated to return up to 39 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.0-liter setup averages 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Escape is offered in 6 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and Plug-in Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the most straightforward choice if you want the Escape’s core comfort and technology without paying for the pricier appearance and equipment upgrades. It also pairs with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which should feel competitive for everyday driving.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the hybrid powertrain, since the hybrid is tied to ST-Line trim and is the one that makes the strongest case for cost-effectiveness.
• ST-Line Select: This trim adds more equipment and can be paired with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, but the content suggests that engine’s extra punch is not matched by a meaningful improvement in overall driving character.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the loaded version of the sporty-looking Escape, with the larger display, available premium audio, and more advanced tech. It suits you if you want the most features, but it is also the trim where value becomes hardest to justify.
• Platinum: This trim sits near the top of the range and is part of the group that can be paired with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. It makes sense only if you want a more upscale presentation and are comfortable paying for it.
• Plug-in Hybrid: This is the efficiency-focused choice if you want electric-only driving range and lots of standard equipment, but it comes only with front-wheel drive.

Ford’s safety package is standard across the lineup, while the more advanced driver-assistance features appear on higher trims and option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Escape?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,676 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.81% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,253, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $22,806 sits slightly below last year's $23,958.

That price movement suggests the Escape has softened enough to help used buyers now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to drift downward. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Escape safe?

The 2024 Escape earns five-star ratings across the board, aside from a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, predictive speed assist, evasive steering assist, lane-centering assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping systems and predictive speed assist were not always consistent in testing, and some advanced features can be more useful on freeways than in dense traffic.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 Escape arrives with no major changes after the 2023 makeover, so you’re getting the updated design and tech without paying for a redesign year.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,826, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,806 average.
• It offers an upscale, tech-forward feel with strong safety and infotainment equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing and the same basic post-refresh package, the 2024 is the cleaner pick. If you’re shopping strictly on features and find a well-kept 2023 at a compelling price, that can still be a smart alternative.
