Used 2024 BMW X5 for Sale nearVirginia Beach, VA

How much does the 2024 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,419 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 BMW X5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its smooth hybrid performance, comfort, and impressive technology. The review summary also points to favorites like hands-free driving and electric range, while the X5’s premium feel and driving enjoyment line up with its luxury midsize SUV mission.

The trade-offs are that it does not feel dramatically different from the previous model and some buyers are not thrilled with the color choices. Even so, if you want a premium SUV that still prioritizes driving enjoyment, the X5 fits that brief well.

Only 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that feels smooth, dependable, and well-liked for its technology and comfort. The expert evaluation also reinforces that impression by describing the X5 as a refined SUV that feels tightly assembled and benefits from BMW’s traditional driving character.

BMW also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium SUV with advanced systems can become expensive if prior maintenance was skipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with advanced electronics and available driver-assistance tech. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the technology works as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X5’s styling has aged well, but the M Sport treatment is not universally loved, and the base setup can leave you wanting more equipment. The cabin also benefits from the 2024 BMW Curved Display and a reduction in physical switchgear, so you should check whether the features you want are included on the specific vehicle you’re considering.
• Powertrain: You can find turbocharged inline-six, turbo-six plug-in hybrid, turbocharged V8, and higher-performance turbo V8 versions. The plug-in hybrid stands out for its stronger electric range and added power, while the six-cylinder models balance performance and efficiency better than the V8s.
• Safety package: BMW adds Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance for 2024. It works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode and uses the digital instrumentation or head-up display to show when it is ready, but it is not a substitute for careful monitoring.
• Infotainment: The X5 uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen running BMW Operating System 8.5. You get wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, over-the-air updates, connected services, and cloud-based navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The xDrive50e plug-in hybrid is rated at 22 mpg in combined driving and can travel about 38 miles on electricity alone. In testing, it also returned 33.7 mpg on one mixed route and 38.8 mpg on another.

Which 2024 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X5 is offered in 5 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the entry point if you want the X5 experience at the lowest starting price. It gives you the core luxury-SUV formula, but you should expect to add options if you want a more complete feature set.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds BMW’s all-wheel-drive system while keeping the six-cylinder formula. It should be the trim to target if you want broad capability without jumping into pricier performance models.
• xDrive50e: This is the one to buy if you want the most compelling mix of power, efficiency, and everyday usability. The plug-in hybrid setup is the standout here, and the expert review calls it the favorite version of the SUV.
• M60i: Choose this if you want a stronger V8 character and are willing to pay for it. It brings more performance, but the price jump is substantial.
• X5 M Competition: This is the top-performance choice for buyers who want maximum speed and the most aggressive driving experience. It sits at the extreme end of the lineup rather than the value end.

BMW’s Highway Assistant is part of the 2024 safety story, but advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,419 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,592, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $51,592 sits slightly below last year's $56,331.

That price movement suggests the X5 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. A softer market now can also mean less room for further steep drops if demand stays steady.

For resale, condition and equipment matter a lot on a premium SUV like this. Well-kept examples with desirable powertrains and strong feature content should hold buyer interest better than neglected or lightly equipped ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 safe?

The 2024 X5 earns high IIHS ratings, although lower headlight ratings kept it from earning an IIHS safety award for this model year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives it an overall four-star crash-test rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW adds Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance for 2024, and it works with Assisted Driving Plus cruise control mode. The system can be effective in dense traffic and light traffic at higher speeds, and it operates subtly most of the time.

There are caveats to keep in mind. The expert review notes some errant braking behavior in traffic and around roadside obstacles, and advanced safety features are not standard. That means you should verify exactly which driver-assistance features are installed on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 adds Highway Assistant hands-free driving assistance and a refreshed cabin with BMW’s Curved Display.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $58,871, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $51,592 average.
• It adds a limited-edition 25th anniversary model.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and a special-edition angle, the 2025 is the secondary path.
