Is the 2024 BMW X5 M a good car?

The 2024 BMW X5 M stands out because it combines the X5’s everyday luxury-SUV practicality with the kind of performance hardware that makes it feel far more serious than a typical family hauler. For 2024, the X5 received a significant refresh that sharpened its styling, added the BMW Curved Display with digital gauges and next-generation iDrive infotainment, and introduced a new standard six-cylinder engine with more power and better fuel economy.

That broader update helps keep the X5 M feeling current, especially if you want a high-performance SUV that still benefits from the latest cabin and technology improvements across the lineup. The tradeoff is that it is expensive to buy and not cheap to own, but it remains a distinctive choice if you want speed wrapped in a premium, usable package. 43.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2024 BMW X5 M reliable?

The 2024 BMW X5 M stands out because it combines the X5’s everyday luxury-SUV practicality with the kind of performance hardware that makes it feel far more serious than a typical family hauler. The broader X5 family is not known for cheap ownership, with maintenance and repair costs likely to be higher than average.

That means reliability-minded used buyers should plan for a premium ownership experience rather than a low-cost one. For long-term ownership, your risk is less about basic usability and more about the expense of keeping a high-performance luxury SUV in top condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X5 M?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s service records line up with its mileage and asking price. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a performance SUV where brakes, tires, suspension, and electronics can be costly if they need attention. Focus on overall condition and maintenance quality, because a well-kept example matters more than a bargain that needs immediate work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 BMW X5 M?

This looks like a buyer-friendly moment if you are shopping carefully, because there is meaningful deal availability and prices have moved lower than they were a year ago.

• Deal availability: 43.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $92,378, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 BMW X5 M's resale value?

The current average of $92,378 sits slightly below last year's $100,960.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room today than a seller had a year ago. If you buy well now and keep the SUV in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. For a future seller, the key will be maintaining service history and overall condition so the vehicle stands out in a market where performance SUVs can still command attention.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X5 M or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 43.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.50% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the strongest all-around choice if you want the newer styling, updated tech, and a market that currently favors buyers. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2024 gives you the best mix of current features and shopping leverage.
