Used 2024 BMW X2 for Sale nearMinneapolis, MN

Is the 2024 BMW X2 a good car?

The 2024 BMW X2 earns a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

It stands out as BMW’s most affordable Sports Activity Coupe, and its SUV-coupe shape gives you a more style-forward alternative to the X1 while keeping about the same passenger room and cargo space. That makes it a fit if you want a distinctive luxury crossover with standard all-wheel drive, strong tech, and good safety credentials.

The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarizing, the controls can be confusing, and the ergonomics are not especially strong. Cargo space is also limited, so you’re paying for style and a driving-oriented image more than maximum utility. The market shows 34.9% good or great deals, which suggests you should shop selectively.

Is the 2024 BMW X2 reliable?

The 2024 BMW X2 is presented as a new redesign with standard all-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain, and the expert evaluation describes it as generally capable in everyday use. The performance notes also point to a relatively quiet highway ride thanks to acoustic window glass on most versions, which supports a more settled ownership experience.

BMW includes complementary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. The powertrain is described as unrefined at times right after startup in cold weather, and the xDrive28i is called out for lacking oomph, so long-term satisfaction may depend on whether you choose the stronger version.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the X2’s complicated controls and uneven driving polish could make it feel less satisfying over time if you prioritize ease of use and refinement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 BMW X2?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-spec example with more equipment. Pay close attention to the cabin controls, rear visibility, and how the driver-assistance systems behave in real traffic, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X2 comes in xDrive28i and M35i forms, with Sport or M Sport trim on the xDrive28i and M Sport standard on the M35i. The xDrive28i is the value play, but the expert evaluation says it lacks the dynamism expected of a BMW, even with M Sport, while the M35i is the better choice if you want the strongest driving character.
• Powertrain: Both versions use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with standard xDrive all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The xDrive28i makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the M35i makes 312 horsepower with the same torque output at higher revs.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, intersection assist for left turns, active blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, semi-autonomous parking assist, and a semi-autonomous backup assist system. The Driving Assistance Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, and lane-centering assist, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds active lane-keep assist with collision avoidance, evasive steering assist, lane-change assist, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assistant.
• Infotainment: The BMW Curved Display combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel with a 10.7-inch touchscreen running BMW Operating System 9. Standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloud-based navigation, connected services, and a conversational Intelligent Personal Assistant. The Technology Package adds Live Cockpit Professional, Video Augmented Reality for Navigation, and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The xDrive28i returned 25.3 mpg on the evaluation loop, and the official estimate is 28 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2024 BMW X2 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X2 is offered in 2 trim levels: xDrive28i and M35i.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive28i: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the X2’s styling, standard all-wheel drive, and strong tech without stretching to the pricier performance model. It gets the same core cabin and safety equipment, but the expert verdict says it is disappointing from a driving-fun standpoint.
• M35i: This is the one to buy if you want the X2 to feel like a BMW in a more meaningful way. It brings the stronger engine and the M Sport treatment standard, making it the better pick for buyers who care most about performance and are willing to pay for it.

Active Driving Assistant is standard, while the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for the optional packages.

Is the 2024 BMW X2 safe?

The 2024 BMW X2 earns a Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, intersection assist for left turns, active blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, semi-autonomous parking assist, and a semi-autonomous backup assist system. The optional Driving Assistance Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, and lane-centering assist, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds active lane-keep assist with collision avoidance, evasive steering assist, lane-change assist, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assistant with hands-free driving on selected limited-access highways at speeds under 40 mph.

One caveat is that the lane-assist system struggled in a merging situation on a curved freeway entrance ramp, and the following-distance adjustment was frustrating to manage.

Should I buy a 2024 BMW X2 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesigned X2 stands out as BMW’s most affordable Sports Activity Coupe, with standard all-wheel drive, impressive technology, and great safety ratings.

The bottom line: If you want the newest X2’s styling, tech, and safety package, the 2024 is the clear path. If you’re more price-sensitive, you should compare listings closely and focus on condition and equipment, since the market is only moderately favorable and the xDrive28i’s driving character may leave you wanting more.
