How much does the 2023 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 3.35% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 6,854 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and spacious interior, and they also highlight its reliable performance and value for money. The main trade-offs are that some drivers find it underpowered and less engaging than rivals, and the ride quality can disappoint compared with competitors.

For a practical compact SUV, that mix makes sense: you’re getting a well-rounded, family-friendly crossover rather than something tuned for excitement. Good and great deals account for 40.3% of listings, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, dependable SUV that many shoppers feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert review also describes it as a practical choice that avoids major black marks, which reinforces the sense that it should be easy to live with over time.

Toyota’s included maintenance coverage adds another ownership perk, and that can help reduce early running costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RAV4 is offered in six trim levels for 2023, ranging from the sub-$30K LE to the Limited with ventilated seats. The base trim is more basic, while higher trims add more comfort and premium touches.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. FWD is standard, while AWD is available on most trims and standard on Adventure and TRD Off-Road.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the base LE and standard starting with XLE.
• Infotainment: An 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard, while Limited and TRD Off-Road get a 10.5-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system supports over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The base LE gets 27 mpg city, 35 highway, and 30 combined with FWD, while AWD lowers highway mileage to 34 and keeps combined fuel economy at 30. The Adventure trim is rated at 25 city, 33 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2023 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core RAV4 formula at the lowest entry price. It’s the trim to target if you want the most affordable path into the model and don’t need the extra comfort or tech upgrades.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment without pushing too far up the price ladder. It also brings the safety-package upgrade that makes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert standard starting here.
• XLE Premium: This is the right pick if you want a more upscale cabin, since it upgrades to synthetic leather upholstery and adds more comfort-oriented equipment. Choose it if you want a nicer feel without jumping all the way to the top trims.
• Adventure: This trim leans into a more rugged look and comes standard with AWD. It adds distinctive styling touches and is a good fit if you want the more outdoorsy appearance and don’t mind paying for it.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the most capability-focused trim in the lineup, with AWD standard and a TRD-tuned suspension setup. It’s the one to choose if you want the most specialized version of the gas RAV4.
• Limited: This is the upscale choice, with the larger 10.5-inch touchscreen and the most premium-feeling equipment in the lineup. Pick it if you want the most comfort and tech in a gas RAV4.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert starts on XLE and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever for a deal.

• Deal availability: 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,854 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.35% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 86.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,902, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $30,099 sits slightly above last year's $29,125.

That upward move suggests the market still sees strong demand for this model year. For a future seller, that’s a helpful sign because a vehicle that holds value while inventory remains active can be easier to move at a competitive price.

The RAV4’s broad appeal also helps support resale strength, especially when buyers are looking for a practical compact SUV with a strong reputation. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to sell than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 earns a 2023 Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the base LE and standard starting with XLE.

The main safety-package gap is that the blind-spot system is not standard on the base trim. Even so, the overall safety picture is a strong point for this model year.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.35% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a refreshed infotainment system and keeps the RAV4 formula broadly intact.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,376, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $30,099 average.
• It offers a roomy, flexible interior with efficient powertrains and standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,959, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,099 average.
• It broadens the lineup with gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid drivetrains across a wide trim range.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, strong safety, and updated tech, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want the newest version and are willing to pay more, the 2024 is the step up.
