Is the 2023 Tesla Model S a good car?

The 2023 Tesla Model S is a compelling choice if you want an EV that still feels distinctive, with long range, advanced technology, and sports car-style acceleration. Its user rating is 2/5, which suggests you should weigh its strengths against its compromises carefully.

The Model S benefits from Tesla’s over-the-air updates and fast-charging ecosystem, and it remains appealing if you value innovation and a strong performance-and-tech mix. At the same time, the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto may matter if smartphone integration is important to you. 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Tesla Model S reliable?

The 2023 Tesla Model S benefits from years of constant software and spec updates, and that helps it stay competitive even as newer rivals arrive. It also comes with a premium feature set that includes adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor, wireless phone charging, and a glass roof.

That said, build quality has been a recurring concern, so used buyers should pay close attention to condition and service history. Long-term ownership risk is most likely to come from fit-and-finish issues and the cost of addressing any neglected problems.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then inspect the car closely for signs of prior damage, uneven panel gaps, or other condition issues. Focus on overall fit and finish, since build quality has been a recurring concern, and make sure the features you care about are working as expected.

What is the 2023 Tesla Model S's resale value?

The current average of $57,695 sits slightly above last year's $56,810.

That suggests the Model S has held value reasonably well in the near term, which can help support your resale position if you buy at the right price. The year-over-year increase also points to steady demand, so a well-kept example should remain easier to market than a neglected one. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot because buyers in this segment tend to be selective.

Should I buy a 2023 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.56% year-over-year.

The bottom line: The 2023 Model S makes sense if you want the blend of range, acceleration, and tech that defines this nameplate, especially if you can find a clean example at a competitive price. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may give you a lower entry point, but you should still compare condition, history, and listing quality before deciding.
