Is the 2023 Tesla Model S a good car?

The 2023 Tesla Model S is a compelling choice if you want an EV with long range, advanced technology, and sports car-style acceleration, and its 2/5 user rating suggests you should weigh those strengths against its compromises carefully. The Model S still stands out for its blend of performance and tech, especially if you want a vehicle that feels distinctive and benefits from Tesla’s software-driven updates and fast-charging ecosystem. It is also a strong fit if you value innovation and a premium feature set more than traditional luxury-car familiarity. Is the 2023 Tesla Model S reliable?

The 2023 Tesla Model S benefits from years of constant software and spec updates, which helped keep it competitive even as newer rivals arrived. It also leans on Tesla’s over-the-air updates and fast-charging ecosystem, both of which support a modern ownership experience. At the same time, build quality has been a recurring concern, so you should expect to pay close attention to condition and maintenance history when shopping used. For long-term ownership, that means your biggest risk is buying a car whose technology still feels current but whose physical condition may not match the asking price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on build quality, panel fit, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on its technology and software experience, make sure every major feature works as expected and that the car feels consistent with its premium positioning. If possible, compare multiple listings so you can judge whether the condition justifies the price.

Should I buy a 2023 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
