Used 2023 Nissan Z for Sale nearMemphis, TN

Is the 2023 Nissan Z a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from owners and 7.00/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2023 Nissan Z stands out as a performance value in the two-seat sports car market, and Nissan positions it as a stylish new entry in a segment with little direct competition. It also brings a thoroughly updated look and feel, with the result described as a mostly new Z that drives like it is all-new, even if some traces of the older 370Z remain.

Its strengths are straightforward: the design is stylish, the engine is powerful, and it offers good value for the money. The tradeoffs are equally clear, though, since it is noisy, does not offer much cargo space, and its stereo is lacking.

That combination makes it appealing if you want a focused sports car without paying for a more expensive badge, and 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Nissan Z reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Nissan Z is presented as a mostly new sports car that drives like it is all-new, which supports the idea that Nissan put real effort into the redesign. The expert evaluation also describes the powertrain as delightful, and the car’s updated engineering is a key part of its appeal.

Nissan also includes complimentary access to automatic collision notification and programmable vehicle settings through NissanConnect Services for six months, which adds some ownership convenience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a performance-focused two-seat car can be costly to live with if prior maintenance or hard use has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Z?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a performance car that may have been driven hard. Focus on signs of wear in the brakes, tires, interior plastics, and audio system, and make sure the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Sport trim starts at $39,990, while the Performance trim costs $49,990. The Performance model adds a more upscale and more aggressive look with 19-inch forged wheels, two-tone paint with a black roof, and a cabin that feels more refined overall, though some lower door panel plastic still stands out. If you want the best value, the Sport trim gives you the lower entry price, while the Performance trim is the better pick if you want the fuller sports-car experience.
• Powertrain: The Z uses a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with rear-wheel drive. A six-speed manual is standard, and a nine-speed automatic is available at no extra charge. The Performance trim adds launch control, a mechanical limited-slip differential, a throatier exhaust note, larger brakes, a sport suspension, and sticky Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires.
• Safety package: Every Z includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors at each end, and an improved reversing camera. The automatic transmission adds full-stop capability to adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: Sport trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers. Performance trim upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with NissanConnect Services, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, a WiFi hotspot, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Nissan predicts 20 mpg in combined driving with the manual transmission and 22 mpg with the automatic. In testing, the manual returned 22.5 mpg and the automatic returned 27.5 mpg.

Which 2023 Nissan Z trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Z is offered in 2 trim levels: Sport and Performance.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Z’s core formula at the lowest price. You still get the twin-turbo V6, standard manual transmission, and the full safety suite, plus an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers. It makes the most sense if you want the Z experience without paying for the extra hardware.
• Performance: This is the better-value choice if you want the Z to feel more complete. It adds the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, Bose audio, launch control, a limited-slip differential, larger brakes, a sport suspension, forged wheels, and stickier tires. It is the trim that best matches the car’s performance mission.

Every Z now has blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors at each end of the car.

Is the 2023 Nissan Z safe?

The 2023 Nissan Z earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan equips every new Z with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors at each end of the car. The automatic transmission adds full-stop capability to adaptive cruise control.

The car also benefits from an improved reversing camera and clearer outward sightlines, which make it easier to maneuver in parking lots and change lanes with confidence. One caveat is that lane-departure warning can be irritating, and the car’s safety tech is more about broad everyday assistance than advanced luxury-car sophistication.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Z or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s the redesigned Z that feels mostly new and delivers a strong performance-value proposition.

Consider the 2024 if:

• Nissan adds more power and a stiffer, more track-focused NISMO version.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right starting point if you want the redesigned Z at a more approachable price and value the standard Sport or Performance trims. If you want more performance headroom and are willing to pay for it, the 2024 is the better path; if you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 remains the smarter buy.
