Used 2023 Nissan Altima for Sale nearPortland, OR

How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

With 6,923 listings available, you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the Altima’s impressive fuel economy, responsive driving feel, and quality audio system. The model also fits well if you want a comfortable, easy-to-use sedan with practical everyday usability and strong safety credentials.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, visibility is poor, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, it still makes sense if you value a relaxed driving experience over excitement.

With 34.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with many drivers highlighting its cost-effective fuel economy and a driving experience they can count on. The expert evaluation also notes that Nissan has been building its CVTs for decades, and that the transmission does a decent job of mimicking a traditional automatic.

Nissan also frames the Altima as an easy-to-live-with sedan, which supports the sense that it is built for routine use rather than drama. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright complexity and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to preserve its comfort and drivability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on visibility-related wear, brake condition, and how the car drives over rough pavement. You should also pay close attention to cabin condition, since the interior materials are a known weak point.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim has a 5-inch display and very limited infotainment equipment, while SV, SR, and SL bring more useful tech and a more complete cabin experience. The SL is the most luxurious trim, and the SR VC-Turbo adds the more powerful turbocharged engine.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a CVT, while the SR VC-Turbo uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a paddle-shifted CVT. The standard engine is adequate, and the turbo setup is the choice if you want more lively performance.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Rear automatic braking starts with SV, while automatic high-beam headlights are added on SR. ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo.
• Infotainment: The base S trim gets a 5-inch display, while SV and SR use an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is available on SV and SR and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo, adding wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Official combined fuel economy ranges from 30 mpg to 32 mpg for the standard engine, depending on wheel size and drivetrain. The SR VC-Turbo is rated at 29 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Altima, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, so it makes sense only if price matters more than convenience and tech.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the more useful infotainment setup and unlocks important equipment upgrades without pushing you into luxury-trim pricing.
• SR: Choose this if you want a sportier feel and a better-equipped cabin than the base model, along with the added driver engagement of paddle shifters.
• SL: This is the most luxurious trim and the one to choose if you want the most complete Altima experience, including the upgraded touchscreen and premium audio options.
• SR VC-Turbo: Pick this if you want the most powerful Altima and are willing to pay for the turbocharged engine and its extra performance character.

The safety package starts with Nissan Safety Shield 360 on every trim, while ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,923 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,551, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $20,808 sits slightly above last year's $20,720.

That small increase suggests the Altima has held its value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing stability can make it easier to estimate your exit point and avoid a sudden drop in market demand.

The model’s broad appeal as a comfortable, easy-to-use sedan also helps support resale interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a five-star rollover resistance rating, though it receives four-star ratings for front passenger frontal impact safety.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Rear automatic braking starts with SV, and automatic high-beam headlights are added on SR. ProPilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist, and it is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo.

The Altima also earned a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS for the 2022 calendar year, but the updated IIHS side-impact test returned a Poor rating. That is the main safety caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out as one of the last midsize sedans still standing, with strong safety and easy-to-use tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,560, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,808 average.
• It offers broad trim and powertrain flexibility.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $19,882, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $20,808 average.
• It adds a more settled feel with attractive standard safety tech.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market availability, steady pricing, and proven owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better price-sensitive alternative, while the 2024 is worth a look if you want a slightly newer model without paying the current-year average.
