Used 2023 Nissan Altima for Sale near Missouri

How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 6,920 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10. Owners consistently praise its impressive fuel economy, comfortable daily-driving character, and quality audio system, while the car’s straightforward family-sedan layout fits buyers who want a practical alternative to an SUV. On the downside, the expert review points to fairly pedestrian performance and interior materials that feel cheap, so you should expect competence more than excitement. Good and great deals make up 35.8% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with strong fuel economy and a car that many drivers feel they can count on for daily use. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the CVT as one of Nissan’s better efforts and noting that the powertrain is easy to live with. Nissan also includes standard safety and convenience features that support everyday confidence, including a rear-seat reminder and Easy Fill Tire Alert. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to avoid wear-related issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the brakes, suspension, and visibility-related equipment, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction. Focus on overall condition and feature content, because the base car is light on equipment and higher trims can make a meaningful difference.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim is light on equipment, while SV, SR, and SL add more of the features most shoppers will want. The higher trims also improve the car’s visual presence, and the SL brings a more upscale cabin look, though some interior materials still feel inexpensive.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a CVT, while the SR VC-Turbo gets a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. AWD is available only with the standard engine on SV, SR, and SL trims.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Rear automatic braking starts with SV, and ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo.
• Infotainment: The base S trim gets a 5-inch display, Bluetooth streaming audio, and a hands-free text messaging assistant. SV and SR move to an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, while the available 12.3-inch system adds wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Official combined fuel economy ranges from 30 mpg to 32 mpg, and the turbocharged version is rated at 29 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, SR VC-Turbo.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Altima, but it’s also the most stripped-down. You get the basics, yet the tech and equipment gap versus the higher trims is large enough that many shoppers will want to move up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds the equipment gap-filling features that make the Altima feel more complete, including the better infotainment setup and more available safety tech.
• SR: Choose this if you want a sportier look and a little more driver engagement, plus the added convenience of features that build on the SV.
• SL: This is the most luxurious standard-engine trim, with the most upscale feel, the available surround-view camera system, and standard ProPilot Assist.
• SR VC-Turbo: Pick this if you want the most powerful Altima and are willing to pay for the extra performance and equipment.

The safety package is strongest on the SL and SR VC-Turbo, where ProPilot Assist is standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,920 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,545, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $20,579 sits slightly below last year's $20,605.

That small decline suggests the Altima has been holding value fairly steadily rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern usually points to a market that is stable but not especially hot. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain it well, you should be able to stay competitive when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS, though the updated IIHS side-impact test gives it a Poor rating. It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every version and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. The standard rear-seat reminder and Easy Fill Tire Alert add a little extra everyday usefulness. Starting with SV, you also get rear automatic braking, while SR adds automatic high-beam headlights. ProPilot Assist is optional on SV and standard on SL and SR VC-Turbo, and it adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist.

The main caveat is the Poor result in the updated IIHS side-impact test, so you should weigh that carefully if crash protection is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for strong safety ratings and a notably improved 12.3-inch infotainment option.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,421, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,579 average.
• It offers more trim and powertrain flexibility.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $19,894, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $20,579 average.
• It adds a more value-focused update with an attractive starting price and upgraded tech on higher trims.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-year features, safety tech, and a stable used-car market, the 2023 is the cleanest choice. If price is your top concern, the 2022 is the better bargain, while the 2024 is the better pick if you want a newer model-year alternative without paying the current-year average.
