Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter a good car?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter stands out because it combines the versatility of a commercial van with a level of refinement that is unusual in the segment. It is designed to serve many roles, from cargo hauler and passenger shuttle to work van and camper foundation, and its appeal comes from that broad configurability. Mercedes also gave the third-generation Sprinter a modern redesign while keeping the tall, boxy shape that made it recognizable, which helps preserve its practical character.

For you, that means the Sprinter makes the most sense if you want a van that can do more than one job and still feel more polished than many rivals. The cabin’s refinement and tech features add to its appeal if you spend a lot of time behind the wheel or need a vehicle that can double as a business tool and daily driver. There are 31.2% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter reliable?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter’s strengths are its car-like refinement, well-shaped seats, low road noise, and a long list of tech features. At the same time, buyers should be aware that the added electronics and emissions hardware can increase complexity, and early reliability reports mention software glitches, sensor issues, and maintenance costs tied to the diesel emissions system.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about complexity and upkeep than basic usefulness, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough inspection of the electronics, sensors, and emissions-related components. Because this van can be configured for many different uses, you should also pay close attention to how it was previously used and whether the condition matches the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts across the board.

• Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 285 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.63% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 88.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $44,847, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter's resale value?

The current average of $49,337 sits slightly above last year's $47,608.

That upward move suggests the market still values this van’s versatility and refinement. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, that pricing trend can help support a healthier resale position later. For a future seller, the key will be presenting a clean history and showing that the van was maintained carefully, especially given the complexity of its electronics and emissions systems.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.63% year-over-year.

The bottom line: The 2023 is a strong choice if you want the newer powertrain setup, available all-wheel drive, and a refined cabin in a highly configurable van. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may give you a lower entry point, but the 2023’s market balance makes it the better fit when you want a modern Sprinter without stepping into the newest pricing.
