Used 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class for Sale near Ohio

How much does the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class cost?

Prices are up 3.43% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 314 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

It is built to make a statement, with styling that stands out and a cabin praised for premium interior materials. That makes sense if you want a luxury grand tourer that feels special the moment you see it and sit in it.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the infotainment system is aggravating, fuel economy is poor, and cargo space is limited. In practical terms, this is a car for you if design, performance, and cabin quality matter more than everyday convenience.

Only 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 SL-Class is described as a high-end, highly technical grand touring convertible, and the expert review emphasizes that it blends speed, technology, and luxury. It also notes that the car is meant to feel special, which usually matters when you’re judging whether a used luxury car still feels desirable after some miles.

The performance side is strong: the SL 43 uses a four-cylinder engine with an electric turbocharger, and the reviewed version is more powerful. That points to a model line built around serious capability rather than basic transportation.

Mercedes also includes a complimentary one-year subscription to connected services, along with wireless smartphone charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s high-tech controls and premium hardware can make ownership more demanding if prior maintenance or repairs were neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a complex luxury convertible with a lot of technology. Focus on the condition of the infotainment system, touch controls, roof operation, and any signs that the car has been used hard or repaired poorly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SL lineup includes the SL 43, SL 55, and SL 63, all in standard Touring trim, with Performance trim available for the SL 55 and SL 63. The base setup already brings a premium cabin and strong visual appeal, while the higher trims add more capability and hardware for buyers who want the most serious version.
• Powertrain: The SL 43 uses a four-cylinder engine with an electric turbocharger and makes 375 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The SL 55 uses a hand-built, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 469 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, plus all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic.
• Safety package: The standard safety equipment includes pop-up roll bars, Pre-Safe Sound, and 10 airbags. A Driver Assistance Package adds 13 more safety and driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, active emergency stop assist, and active braking for intersections, cross-traffic, and sudden congestion situations.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen and an 11.9-inch portrait touchscreen with MBUX, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and a one-year subscription to Mercedes Me connected services. The system is also described as glare-prone and fingerprint-prone, so condition and usability matter.
• Fuel efficiency: The SL 55 averages 16 mpg in combined driving and uses premium fuel. The review also notes that fuel economy is poor overall, so this is a key ownership cost to factor in.

Which 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: SL 43, SL 55, SL 63.

Here's the short version:

• SL 43: This is the entry point and the value-minded choice if you want the SL experience with the lowest starting price in the lineup. It still gives you the car’s standout styling and luxury grand-touring character, but with a less powerful engine than the V8 models.
• SL 55: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it combines the stronger V8 powertrain with the SL’s premium cabin and high-end roadster feel. If you want the sweet spot between performance and price, this is the one to focus on.
• SL 63: Choose this if you want the most powerful and most expensive version of the lineup. It is the top performance-oriented choice for buyers who want the fullest expression of the SL formula.

A Driver Assistance Package is available, and it adds 13 safety and driver-assistance systems.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 314 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.43% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 93.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $86,466, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class's resale value?

The current average of $96,721 sits slightly above last year's $93,514.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. It also tells you that demand has held up even with the car’s luxury pricing and ownership compromises.

For a future seller, that means a well-kept example should still attract attention, especially if it presents cleanly and has desirable equipment. The price trend also suggests that buyers continue to value the SL’s styling and premium feel.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class safe?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Among the SL’s standard safety features, two of the more unusual items are pop-up roll bars that help to protect occupants in a rollover accident and Pre-Safe Sound. That latter technology emits a “pink noise” immediately prior to a collision that helps protect your hearing from the sounds of the impact, including the deployment of the SL’s 10 airbags.

A Driver Assistance Package is a reasonably priced option, and it adds 13 additional safety and driver assistance systems. Highlights include adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist and lane-change assist, an active emergency stop assist system, and active braking for intersections, cross-traffic, and sudden congestion situations.

The lane-keeping assist system is described as decisive, which can be reassuring when it correctly detects an unintended lane departure. The caveat is that it can feel overly assertive when you don’t want intervention, so you should test the system carefully during your own drive.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.43% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds the more affordable SL 43, which gives the lineup a lower entry point than before.

The bottom line: If you want the SL’s style, luxury, and performance with a broader range of prices to shop, the 2023 is the right year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye out for the lower end of the range and compare condition carefully, since the car’s technology and ownership costs still deserve close attention.
