CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Summary
With 123 currently listed for sale near Raleigh, NC and an average price of $39,448, 42.3% of 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a used luxury sedan because it comes from a generation that was widely praised for feeling current even before the newest version arrived. It was introduced in 2016 as a sedan, with wagon versions following later that same year, and it built its appeal around a scaled-down S-Class look, advanced safety and luxury features, and a cabin that feels genuinely high-end. The interior is especially distinctive, with a swoopy dashboard, circular air vents, and, in most versions, two side-by-side 12.3-inch display screens that create the impression of one large screen. Standard equipment is generous too, including electric adjustment for the steering wheel and front seats, a rear-view camera, satellite navigation, LED headlamps, and a wide range of driver-assistance safety features.
For buyers, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is appealing because it offers a broad spread of powertrains and body styles while still feeling luxurious and well equipped. The lineup includes rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, along with mild-hybrid technology and a nine-speed automatic transmission across the range. At the performance end, the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid brings 577 horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of less than four seconds. The tradeoffs are familiar for the class: prices are high, fuel economy for some larger-engined versions is fairly poor, and some owners have reported juddering brakes and glitchy infotainment systems. Even so, the 2023 model remains attractive because it combines comfort, prestige, and a strong reliability record with a lot of technology for the money.

| Average Price a Year Ago | $54,629 |

There are 998 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a used luxury sedan because it feels current, offers a high-end cabin, and brings a broad spread of powertrains and body styles. You also get a generous equipment list, including luxury and driver-assistance features that help it feel well equipped for the class. With 35.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is described as combining comfort, prestige, and a strong reliability record, which is exactly what you want in a used luxury sedan. It also benefits from a well-established generation and a cabin that feels thoroughly developed. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that luxury-car complexity can make repairs and upkeep more expensive if the car has been neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, even when the market looks clean, because accident history can affect both value and future repair risk. Put the car on a lift or have a trusted mechanic inspect it, with extra attention to brakes, electronics, and infotainment behavior. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since a luxury sedan like this can be rewarding only if it has been properly cared for.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 998 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $48,022, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $48,056 sits slightly below last year's $54,629.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in excellent condition, because a lower entry price can help protect your position later. Strong equipment, clean history, and careful maintenance matter a lot in a luxury sedan market where buyers expect a premium experience.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $39,304, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $48,056 average.
- It offers a distinctive Cabriolet option.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $54,651, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $48,056 average.
- It brings a redesigned, more tech-rich cabin.
The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want a well-equipped luxury sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a softer market price. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the newest redesign and can pay more, the 2024 is the upgrade to consider.
