What’s New for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT

In 2022, Mercedes pared the AMG GT lineup back to just the four-door coupe. The two-door coupe was put on hold, and the convertible was discontinued in favor of the redesigned SL-Class. For 2023, the V8 models return to the lineup after a one-year break.

Design

The 2023 AMG GT is only offered now in the four-door coupe variant. It maintains a fastback profile, but with the added benefit of a second set of doors and easy access to the rear seat. The AMG GT 43 comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, a multi-stage rear spoiler, and aerodynamic exterior styling. Larger wheels are optional on this model and standard on the upgraded AMG GT models.

Powertrain

There are two potent twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engines and two V8 models offered for 2023. The AMG GT 43 makes 362 horsepower. Using EQ Boost with an electric compressor, the AMG GT 53 makes 429 horsepower. Both the AMG GT 63 and 63 S feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. The GT 63 makes 575 horsepower and the 63 S puts out 630 horsepower. Each engine routes power through a nine-speed automatic transmission to 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD).

The AMG GT 63 S boasts a zero-to-60-mph time of just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 195 mph. It also features a Drift Mode for the AWD system.

Both the AMG GT 43 and 53 return the same fuel economy, which is 19 mpg city, 24 highway, and 21 combined. The GT 63 and GT 63 S return 15 mpg city, 21 highway, and 17 combined. The Mercedes AMG GT requires premium fuel.

Interior

The trunk provides 12.7 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a standard power lift gate. Standard features on the AMG GT 43 include a push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Optional features include leather upholstery, massaging front seats, heated front seats, a cabin fragrance system, a panoramic sunroof, and power soft-closing doors.

Technology

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT comes standard with a fully digital instrument panel, three USB ports, and a large 12.3-inch touchscreen center console that’s also operable via the center-console touchpad. This screen includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also responds to complex voice commands and can be activated by saying, “Hey, Mercedes…” Available features include a 25-speaker premium stereo, two additional USB ports, and rear-seat wireless device charging.

Safety

Standard safety tech includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, front and rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high beams, a self-park function, and a 360-degree parking camera system.

Pricing
