How much does the 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 cost?

Is the 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Generally — 4/5 from owners and 8.2/10 from experts. The 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 is positioned as a compact car that feels more upscale than its price suggests, with a cabin that aims for a luxury-like experience and a hatchback body style that adds useful cargo versatility. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The trade-offs are clear: the infotainment system is frustrating to use, and rear visibility is limited by the large C-pillar. That makes it a strong fit if you want a polished daily driver with a premium vibe, but less ideal if you prioritize simple tech and easy outward visibility.

34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 is presented as a refined, well-rounded compact car with strong everyday usability, and its driving character is described as communicative and rewarding. The base powertrain is also described as a naturally aspirated four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic and available all-wheel drive, which gives you a straightforward mechanical setup.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to the base engine as the most efficient version, which can help keep ownership costs more manageable. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s frustrating tech and visibility issues may matter more as the vehicle ages and you rely on them every day.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda MAZDA3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you’re considering a hatchback. Pay close attention to visibility, infotainment usability, and overall cabin condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 S starts with 16-inch alloy wheels, pushbutton start, keyless entry, two USB ports, and an 8.8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add features like 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, synthetic leather, a moonroof, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, paddle shifters, a head-up display, navigation, and genuine leather upholstery.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-four makes 191 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic by default. All-wheel drive is available with this powertrain, and a manual transmission is available only on front-wheel-drive Premium models. The turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on regular fuel or 250 hp and 320 lb-ft on premium fuel.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include forward automatic emergency braking, automatic cruise control, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive headlights, lane-departure warning, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Select trim adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the Turbo Premium Plus adds traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and a 360-degree parking camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8.8-inch display operated by a rotary dial rather than touch input. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the system also comes with two USB ports, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice control.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-liter engine with front-wheel drive returns 28 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined. With all-wheel drive, it returns 26 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The turbo-four/all-wheel-drive hatchback returns 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined.

• Inventory: There are 1,197 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.69% year-over-year.

What is the 2023 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $22,053 sits slightly above last year's $21,687.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year, which can help support resale confidence if you buy at the right price. The year-round range also shows that values have stayed fairly tight, so condition and trim choice should matter a lot when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts. It comes standard with forward automatic emergency braking, automatic cruise control, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive headlights, lane-departure warning, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Select trim adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while the Turbo Premium Plus adds traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and a 360-degree parking camera system.

One important caveat is the large C-pillar, which creates a major blind spot in the hatchback. The infotainment layout can also be distracting because it takes extra attention to operate.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.69% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It blends upscale cabin quality with hatchback practicality and strong driving feel.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $20,709, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $22,053 average.
• It adds value-focused style and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $21,387, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $22,053 average.
• It offers a wider range of configurations and a more upscale feel.

The bottom line: Buy the 2023 if you want the strongest mix of premium feel, driving enjoyment, and current-market availability. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 is worth a look if you want a newer-feeling setup with broader configuration choices.
