Is the 2023 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-9 earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a three-row SUV that prioritizes a sporty driving feel, standard all-wheel drive, and a premium interior, so it fits you well if you want something more driver-focused than purely practical. It also notes that the CX-9 is smaller inside than class leaders and that its infotainment can be unintuitive, so it makes the most sense if style, handling, and upscale feel matter more than maximum space. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview points to a well-rounded setup with standard all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and Kinematic Posture Control, which supports a composed driving experience. It also presents the CX-9 as a polished, premium-leaning SUV rather than a stripped-down family hauler, which can be appealing if you want a used vehicle that feels thoughtfully engineered. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained well enough to preserve that upscale driving character.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-9?

At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important. You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, alignment, or repair-quality issues. Focus closely on overall condition, especially signs of wear that could affect the CX-9’s premium feel and driving composure.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 412 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,807, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $25,807 sits slightly below last year's $27,605. That kind of price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you can help protect its value against further market drift. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,450, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $25,807 average.
• It offers a near-luxury feel with stylish design and premium interior materials.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and a strong satisfaction signal, the 2023 is the better starting point. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers much of the CX-9’s upscale character.
